Abstract

In Canadian political and intellectual history, Pierre-Elliott Trudeau and Ramsay Cook were quite influenced by the thinking of Elie Kedourie in their own appraisal of nationalism in general and Québec nationalism in particular. This chapter argues that Kedourie was substantially wrong about Herder, and that correspondingly, Cook and Trudeau were also wrong, at least to a certain degree, about Québec nationalism
