Abstract

The present situation evolved by the ratification of standards in English (and in some cases in German) is not acceptable for the practising engineers. It means that the guidance of the technical works are expressed in foreign language; and not only in the field of corrosion protection. The practice of cathodic protection is regulated by one standard in Hungarian and six standards in English. This situation causes confusion mainly in construction and operation. The statement of the Chamber of Hungarian Engineers afford an acceptable compromise.
