Bamboo: The opportunities for forest and landscape restoration
Abstract and Figures
C. Rebelo and K. Buckingham examine bamboo's potential in tackling restoration challenges and improving resilience to climate change. Bamboo has the potential to transform major timber industries as an alternative to fiber, reducing pressure on remaining natural forests. Commercial bamboo plantations can help to achieve the international restoration goals by using degraded and deforested land to restore critical ecosystem functions, while producing a sustainable source of fiber.
