Abstract

The aim of the study is to examine gender differences on perceptions of employees' quality of working life indicators in five star hotels in Turkey. 443 hotel employees participated in this study. Quality of work life was measured using 7 dimension and 16 items scale. All these dimensions were investigated with respect to gender variable. According these results male employees reported significantly different mean scores in health and safety needs, actualization needs and knowledge needsin quality of working life indicators. However; economic and family needs, social needs, esteem needs and aesthetic needs factors were not statistically significant. This finding is also consistent with the results obtained from Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) in which the independent variable was gender and the quality of working life indicators were dependent variables. Finally, MANCOVA analysis was conducted while controlling for such variables as age, marital status, income level, education, type of department, type of work, length of time in this organization and length of time in the tourism sector. Specifically, males and females displayed more significant distinctions after controlling for these variables.

The objective of the study is to identify the perception of bank employees regarding the practicality and effectiveness of online banking services in the Nigerian perspective. Employees of three reputed banks are considered for this study and the demographic profile of study subjects is evaluated in this study. The study is conducted by collecting the primary data from the respondents using questionnaire as a tool. Pertinent statistical techniques are employed to analyse the data gathered and interpret the pros and cons of e-banking from employees' perspective. Various demographic variables like age, gender, marital status, educational qualifications and designation are examined to gain a better understanding of the employee and their perception on these parameters of online banking. The results of chi-square test for independence are tested at 5% level of significance. The results revealed that there is a profuse need for qualified, skilled and experienced professionals in the banking sector of Nigeria. Also, it is observed that though there are some impediments regarding the facilities and infrastructure in the country, employees nurture a fair opinion about the plausible advantages of e-banking. This research provides a foundation to identify the weakest link in the service supply and delivery chain rendered to the customers using online banking.

In the emergence of the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus and Covid-19, this work set out to investigate university governance as an effect of the pandemic and as a scientific response through the formation of a panel of experts or advice on risk management, communication and management. A documentary, systematic and retrospective study was carried out with a selection of sources indexed to international repositories, considering the period from 2019 to 2021. Three categories of discussion were found that were qualified by expert judges, establishing patrimonialism as the guiding axis of doe extracts of findings selected for meta-analysis. It is suggested to orient the research towards the incidence of the panel of experts in the decisions of governments as health policies in the face of the health and economic crisis.

This paper describes the development and implementation of a standardized set of definitions, measures, and costing methods for behavioral outcomes. Utilizing industrial engineering, accounting-work measurement, and behavioral concepts, this longitudinal field research identifies and quantifies the cost components of certain behaviors and arrives at a dollar figure per incident and an estimated total cost over three years of measurement. The conceptual framework and methodology are designed for use in assessment of organizational effectiveness and quality of work life experiments.

The design, implementation and use of Performance Measurement (PM) systems have been studied extensively. However, the literature shows little evidence on what kind of impacts PM practises have had on, for example, the performance of the operative level of an organisation. This paper focuses on the impacts PM has had on the Quality of the Working Life (QWL) of employees, for example, their work motivation, learning opportunities, job satisfaction, participation in decision making and reward system. Furthermore, this paper presents how the perceptions of management and employees differ from each other and what the key elements in the implementation process are as regards the accomplishment of positive impacts of PM on the quality of working life. This paper concludes with the underlying factors behind the positive impacts of PM on the quality of working life.

Purpose The paper seeks to determine whether and how the quality of working life (QWL) varies between call centres (CCs) in the in‐house/outsourced, public and private sectors and the implications of these findings on human resource management (HRM). Design/methodology/approach This paper reports on findings derived through empirical qualitative case study research in two Australian CCs: Govtcall, an in‐house, public‐sector CC, and Salesplus, an outsourced, private‐sector CC. Quality of work life outcomes are determined through in‐depth interviews with CSOs, supervisors and managers, where a comparative approach is utilised. Findings The in‐house, public‐sector CC Govtcall emerges as being inferior in terms of job content, working hours and managerial/supervisory style and strategies. Conversely, Salesplus features a management model that is more akin to what would be expected in a CC operating under a professional service model. Research limitations/implications The sample size was limited to two CCs; thus, the findings may not be representative of the wider CC context. Practical implications A productivity orientation and employee focus are not a mutually exclusive phenomenon. Union presence and public‐sector status do not guarantee better working conditions and higher QWL. Managerial styles and strategies have a significant impact on QWL in the CC context. Originality/value QWL is an under‐researched area where CCs are concerned. Similarly, much of the existing CC research is based on the private sector, despite the public sector emerging as a large user of CC operations.

"Quality of Working Life" (QWL) has become a popular term over the past decade. Yet the meaning of QWL is unclear and several critical issues about the concept exist. The author clarifies several aspects of QWL by focusing on four questions: (1) What is QWL?; (2) What benefits have resulted from previous QWL efforts?; (3) What costs result from QWL projects?; and (4) Do organizational changes that result from QWL efforts endure over time and diffuse to other parts of organizations?

How do management perceptions of need satisfaction and importance vary by level of management? 139 supervisors and middle management individuals in 3 companies were sent a questionnaire constructed to measure needs in a hierarchy compared to one described by Maslow. Middle managers fulfilled, more often than did bottom managers, needs for esteem, security, and autonomy. "The highest-order need of self-actualization is the most critical need area of those studied, in terms of both perceived deficiency in fulfillment and perceived importance to the individual, in both bottom and middle management." The values that quality of work life (QWL) has brought to the workplace are in danger of being lost, say authors Nadler and Lawler; to avert this danger, they debunk several "definitions" of the concept that miss the point, give it a precise definition, and spell out ways to use it successfully. They delineate six factors that they believe separate more successful from less successful QWL efforts. The first success factor is a perception of need--that is, in successful efforts organization members actually perceive a problem. Second, the problem is salient to the organization. Third, a structure for participation is created. Fourth, rewards are provided both for the processes and for the outcomes of QWL activities. Fifth, multiple levels of management are involved. And, finally, QWL involves all organization members in a way that avoids "we-they" rivalries. With these factors in mind, the authors conclude that three major components of QWL efforts must be managed well if they are to succeed: (1) development of projects at different levels; (2) changes in management systems and structure; and (3) changes in senior management behavior--that is, if the QWL effort is to be credible to organization members, there must be some specific, tangible QWL activity in which senior managers participate.
