The original translation of Ish.aq seems to be as inaccessible as the translations of al-.Hajjaj because all the surviving manuscript remains derive from a version of Ish.aq's translation edited by Thabit ibn Qurra (A.H. 221-288/A.D. 836-901) [51; 53, 264-272]. Diese Abhandlung beschreibt die Bedeutung der Geometrie Euklids fur das Schulwesen des islamischen Indien im Mittelalter and gibt einen Überblick über die für eine Untersuchung der euklidischen Tradition zur Verfügung stehenden Quellen. Sie untersucht verschiedene Arten von Quellen, die fur die Erforschung in Indien auftretenden euklidischen Gedankengutes und dessen Verbindung zu anderen Zweigen der mittelalterlichen euklidischen Tradition wichtig sind. Die Hauptarten der beschreibenen Quellen sind: (1) arabische und persiche Übersetzungen, (2) revidierte Ausgaben dieser Übersetzungen, (3) Zusammenfassungen des euklidischen Werkes, (4) enzyklopädische Arbeiten, die Beschreibungen von Euklids Geometrie beinhalten, and (5) gereimte Prosa.

The period 1740–1800 is full of striking political and military events. Beginning with Nadir Shah's conquest, India experienced internal wars and Asian and European assaults, which overwhelmed the Mughal Empire and led to British supremacy. This essay endeavors to show the nature of the culture of India during this rather disturbed period.
