Introduction
In my teaching project students developed a set of sections to train special aspects of the German resp.
English language esp. by self-study using digital devices. This E-Learning approach does not use any source
language. So it can be used by any person regardless of his first language or his knowledge of foreign
languages. Moreover it does not utilize any script, so it can also be used by illiterates.
German resp. English expressions and phrases to learn are represented by images or videos and their
pronunciation can be played back by audio samples. So in this tutorial resp. training program the target
language German resp. English can be found exclusively. A second version of this program is extended by
the written words and phrases in German resp. in English. The main focus of our research is the use of
multimedia information on all kinds of digital devices (Desktop-PC, Notebook, Tablet, Smartphone, Smart-
TV) instead of any source language or script especially for E-Learning of foreign languages. When we
finished the first sections of the German trainer, we found it straightforward to convert it also into a similar
tool to learn resp. train the English language.
This tool provides many possible applications e.g. learning a new language, refreshing parts of a foreign
language learned previously or training some aspects of a language easily before meeting people from its
language area or visiting it.
In the first section single words and the combination of noun substantives and simple adjectives for colors
and numerals are introduced. It starts with scenarios of welcome and farewell called communication,
introduces some family relations, parts of the body and aches, main colors, numbers from 1 to 5 and
examples of household accessories, fruits and vegetables to apply colors and numbers already learned.

The second section presents the rooms and furnishing of a house or apartment followed by clothes. Then it
introduces additional colors as well as some of their light and dark variants and applies it to clothes, new
parts of the body and new fruits. These objects are also used to study the additionally introduced words of
the numbers from 6 to 10 after repeating the smaller numbers.

The third section deals with time and introduces the times of day, mealtimes, weekdays, months, seasons,
and the clock time. Hence, numbers greater than 10 are presented in connection with the underlying
decimal system. First simple verbs like to sleep, to eat, to buy, to walk, to play football etc. are illustrated
and used as a part of simple sentences together with the first pronouns and temporal adverbs.

We will also reorganize the whole material into sections accord to everyday topics like relationship, human
communication, colors, numbers, body and health, meals and drinks, clothes, household and living,
dwelling, timing, travelling, sport, culture, tradition, education, profession and work etc.. So each user can
select the topic he just requires or is currently most interested in.
