Hashimoto's thyroiditis is associated with the presence of anti-thyroid autoantibodies (anti-TPO). High serum antibodies are found in the active phases of chronic autoimmune thyroiditis. In many medical cases with Hashimoto's thyroiditis it is possible to have high levels of anti-TPO antibodies and fT4, fT3 and TSH levels to be within the normal range. Most doctors believe that Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an incurable form of thyroid deficiency. With the TCM treatment the patient's strength and vitality can be improved, the Qi flow can be harmonized, nourished and strengthened and the body's system can be repaired and recharged so the patient may go into remission. The treated patient is 44 year old man, diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis caused by stress. The patient has done 40 acupuncture treatments within 21 months, once a week. The patient wasn't taking any additional hormonal medications. The parameters for fT4, fT3 and TSH were showing normal levels and the anti-TPO levels were increased. Before the treatment the anti-TPO antibodies amount was 252.4 IU/ml and after the treatment 4.07 IU/ml (normal <80 IU/ml).

Thyroid dysfunction, affecting people of all ages, not only damages human growth and energy metabolism but is also comorbid with other illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and gastrointestinal disorders. With the increasing acceptance of alternative and complementary therapies, acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medical practice, has also been employed to address this problem. Analysing 29 clinical projects that were retrieved from 29 major digital databases and include 1757 patients aged 7–79 years from China, Italy, Korea, Macedonia and Russia, this narrative review offers an overview of the efficacy, and evaluated the safe and cost-effective use of acupuncture against hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and thyroid-relevant illnesses. Findings indicated reductions in patient symptoms and improvements in biomarkers where acupuncture was used alone or in combination therapy. In addition to showing the role of acupuncture as an alternative and complementary medicine or as an adjunctive therapy for curative and rehabilitative purposes, more well-designed researches are needed to achieve reliable data.

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck secreting thyroid hormones. When hormones are not secreted properly, the two conditions may occur -hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Acupuncture as a treatment for thyroid disorders is used very common and it can improve the symptoms significantly. The patients is a 42 year old woman, who first came to the clinic on 14.02.2013 with very low level of TSH=0,2. Since then she has made 29 treatments in a period of three years, until 12.01.2016. Acupuncture treatments were made in a clinic for Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture in Skopje, Macedonia. During the treatment her hormone levels normalized, although she faced and unplanned pregnancy and went from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism. The last results are from the analysis made on 12.01.2016 -FT4=9,7 TSH=2,9 TPO<10 TG<20. Acupuncture has a positive effect as a treatment for thyroid disorders, regulating the flow of the energy and restoring the balance ofthe internal state of the body.

Background - Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the body lacks sufficient thyroid hormone. People with this condition have symptoms associated with a slow metabolism,tiredness, weight gain, constipation, dry skin, feeling cold and etc. [12] Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) regards hyperthyroidism and as Yin/Yang imbalances and often uses acupuncture, herbal medicine and dietary therapy to rebalance Yin and Yang. [8]
Aim - The main purpose of doing this work is toshow the most effective acupoints used in the acupuncture treatment of hypothyroidism in our practice and the results after the treatment.
Methods - The patient is a 24 year old female diagnosed with Hashimoto hypothyroidism, an autoimmune thyroiditis. The treatments were done in the clinic for TCM and acupuncture in Skopje by a doctor specialist in acupuncture. The treatments were done every week for 3 years, when the TSH and T4 levels normalized. During the treatments she has done 7 analysis for thyroid.
Results - From the first treatment made the levels of TSH. T4 and TPO hormones were gradually normalizing. The last results are from the analysis when she also made her last treatment - TSH=13.8 T4=2.8 TPO=<60

Conclusions-For condition such as hypothyroidism, acupuncture gives satisfying results and improves the condition significantly.
A patient diagnosed with subacute thyroidis de Quervain had opted for acupuncture treatment. Relevant literature provides only scarce information on this disorder. The expert panel, therefore, will demonstrate the potential of TCM treatment. In this case, acupuncture could improve the complaints within a short period of time.
