Challenges in Green Cloud Computing
The goal of green computing is to integrate management of computing devices and environmental control mechanisms to provide quality of service, robustness, and energy efficiency. This part (of panel) presents the fundamental principles and state of the art technologies that enable the green cloud computing. Traditionally, computer systems have been developed focusing on performance and cost, without much concern for their energy efficiency. With the advent of mobile devices, efficiency has become a priority because of the need to increase the autonomy of the batteries. The large concentration of equipment in datacenters brought to light the costs of inefficient energy management in IT infrastructure.
