Prinsip Islam di Dalam Ruang kediaman Muslim

Abstract

Ruang kediaman bagi Muslim adalah refleksi keperabadian Muslim dan masyarakatnya. Kediaman yang bersih dan teratur mencerminkan keutuhan keperibadian, adab dan tingkahlaku penghuninya terhadap Tuhannya. Ini telah dibuktikan oleh rekabentuk kediaman di awal Islam (bermula tahun pertama Hijrah) terdahulu bahawa unsur-unsur fizikal (lantai, dinding, siling, pintu, tingkap dan sebagainya) dan spiritual (adab dan tingkahlaku, kepercayaan, ibadat) di dalam rekabentuk kediaman Muslim saling memerlukan. Pengalaman dan rujukan di dalam rekabentuk kediaman terdahulu adalah rujukan penting kepada rekabentuk kediaman Muslim pada hari ini. Tafsiran kediaman Barat yang berasaskan manusia sebagai intipati rekabentuk (human centered) merangkumi aspek fungsional dan estetika semata-mata harus disangkal. Aspek spriritual (tauhid) yang mendominasi rekabentuk kediaman Islam di pandang sebelah mata. Akibatnya rekabentuk kediaman hari ini menjadi amat ringkas, lesu tanpa jiwa kerana pengabaian terhadap elemen spritual dan ketauhidan ini. Rekabentuk Islam yang berasaskan Tauhid dan ketuhanan dikatakan hanya berlaku di rumah Ibadat seperti Masjid, Madrasah dan Istana sahaja. Kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan keperluan elemen-elemen rekabentuk ini untuk pembentukan peribadi keluarga Muslim. Elemen rekabentuk seperti lantai, dinding dan siling beserta elemen- elemen pintu, tingkap , siling, bilik dan lain-lain dikupas berdasarkan adab islami dan keperluan shariah. Antara persoalan yang akan di bincangkan ialah isu privasi, aurat, isu kejiranan, tandas, laluan, keselesaan yang mempunyai hubungkait dengan pembentukan keperibadian Muslim di dalam kediaman Muslim tradisional lampau dan kediaman moden pada hari ini. Kertas kerja ini di harap memberi kesedaran kepada masyarakat tentang kepentingan elemen – elemen rekabentuk kediaman di dalam pembangunan akhlak Muslim pada generasi hari ini.

Malaysia is expected to face ageing population in year 2030. This phenomenon is a challenge that hinders the provision of an excellent environment, including housing them. Active ageing refers to the process of improving the quality of life amongst the elderly in terms of health, social, physical, and environmental aspects. Provision of environment that is conducive and promotion of active surrounding highly influence the elderly to stay active. Nonetheless, literature pertaining to this particular topic area from the stance of elderly Muslims is in scarcity. Hence, the objective of this study is to determine terms associated to active ageing from the Muslim perspective and to identify the appropriate housing environment for them. Data collected from questionnaires distributed to 411 respondents residing in Johor were analysed quantitatively. The outcomes suggest that active ageing amongst elderly Muslims displayed positive effects on spiritual and religious activities. Upon providing housing for them, active ageing is essential so as to perceive active living and exceptional well-being

This study discusses on the influence of settlement settings and an ideal housing design that can shape a good society and excel in behaviour, the value of life and lifestyle daily. Living environment affects its inhabitants, including the opportunity for the Malay community to practice their norm and values based on Islamic teachings. There are two housing categories in Malaysia, namely as an unplanned settlement (kampongs) and planned settlement (urban housing). Nowadays, majority of the Urban-Malay community are living in modern housing estates in urban areas where the living sphere is different from a traditional settlement such as kampong in rural area. The living environment setting such as the kampongs encourage Malay residents to practice their social cultures. The Malay socio-cultural aspect is established slowly and evolves through time based on values required by religion and inherited from one generation to another. Malays have to comply with all the teachings and practice the values required by Islam. This paper suggests that, to meet such Malay residents’ need, a certain physical design attributes from the kampongs should be applied in the modern housing environment at two different levels, called as the micro (house unit) and macro (settlement or neighbourhood) level. Based on the various literature sources, the requirement of optimum living space, the social activities, the family relationship, the neighbourhood concepts and preservation of the privacy element within Malay settlement have been discussed. As a comparison, the existing of linked housing setting has been reviewed in order to compare between the modern and traditional living environments. This paper proposed that the Muslim-Malay resident social cultures are a basis of Malay lifestyle and should be taken into account during the design of a settlement as a whole living environment setting.
