A literary criticism of the book "Remembering Babylon," by David Malouf is presented. It explores the effectiveness of the liberal humanist discourse in the book and analyzes the concept of shared suffering by exploring non-indigenous trauma as represented by Malouf. Several authors criticized "Remembering Babylon" including notable people Peter Otto, Suvendrini Perera, and Germaine Greer, claiming on the lack of knowledge that Malouf had concerning colonial history and indigenous culture.
