Organization Theory is made up of three parts. The first part considers the question ‘what is organization theory?’ and looks at the multiple perspectives within organization theory. It also provides a brief history of organization theory. The second part presents core concepts and theories, including organization–environment relations, organizational social structure, organizational technology, organizational culture, and the physical structure of built space in organizations. The third and final part is about themes and applications of organization theory. It looks at power in and around organizations to shed light on organizational politics, conflict, and control and provides an in-depth look at organizational identity in the Carlsberg Group.
