Abstract

Distinguishing objective(OBJ) semantic from subjective(SUBJ) semantic is essential to information processing of either explicit design formalization or implicit natural language(NL) communication of projects' implementation. We summarized our past experience of solutions for semantic knowledge management projects. An adopted hypothesis is that among the tremendous and rapid increasing information, there is a relative stable core which can map/relate to every specific piece of information uniformly starting from the discussion on existence and conceptualization. The mapping will result in an expansion formalization based on open world assumption (OWA) and closed world assumption (CWA). This formalization can be widely applied for guiding semantic formalization and validation. We show initial applications on transformations from SUBJ to OBJ, etc.

... For requirement phases of software development processes, it is important to get to know the information/intention of users to support modeling and implementation hence after. The key is to locate and determine the semantic [1], [2], [3] of the requirement specification expressions which is however not readily available. Our approach is proposed for this purpose. ...
... Why and how we can get to each other in spite of those argumentations of " expressible vs. not expressible " and " communicable vs. not communicable " [1], [2]? Firstly, there are lots of unconscious not expressible and Yucong Duan was with Le2i, UMR-5158 CNRS, University of Bourgogne, Dijon Cedex, France ( phone: 00420-774-860-623; e-mail: duanyucong@hotmail.com). ...
... Here we use enlightening instead of transfer because that semantic cannot be transferred for cases that the existence which cannot be transferred composes the content to be transferred. The rules can be found in [1], [2]. An outside extension: we understand only when we understand. ...

We propose an outline of an approach to formalize semantic from conceptualization for both natural language (NL) and logic expression mechanisms. This goes beyond the level of discussions at conceptual level which has to either end in conscious/unconscious relativity of understanding or subjective enforcement in the form of definitions instead of expected objective semantic. This approach supports to view from a pure mathematical perspective, and explore and locate the fundamental problems. The semantic formalization mechanism realizes the integration of problem description and the solution expression at absolute semantic level. So a problem describing process is equivalent to the solution exploring process by integrating both in one. This essentially caters the ideology of proceeding with model refinement of model driven development. Other advantages include that it will reduce the need for validation for model migrations during a model driven development process, etc. Application is intended to cover specification refinement of both functional and quality requirement, and both static description and behavioral implementation, etc.
... existence confirmed ::=< (existence objective , existence conceptual ) positive , nonexistence confirmed > The perceived real world, which contains the perceived objective real world, comprises content related to objective existence and aggregates conceptual existence. The objective existence matches perceived objective ''True/False'', while the conceptual existence can be bundled into a subjective evaluation of ''Yes/No'' [72], which is evaluated as conforming to. Content bundled to conceptual existence can be imaginary or incorrectly proposed content. ...

Currently, with the growth of the Internet of Things devices and the emergence of massive edge resources, security protection content has not only empowered IoT devices with the accumulation of networked computing and storage as a flexible whole but also enabled storing, transferring and processing DIKW (data, information, knowledge, and wisdom) content at the edge of the network from multiple devices in a mobile manner. However, understanding various DIKW content or resources poses a conceptual challenge in unifying the semantics of the core concepts as a starting point. Through building metamodels of the DIKW framework, we propose to cognitively formalize the semantics of the key elements of the DIKW in a conceptual process. The formalization centers on modeling the perceived world only by relationships or semantics as the prime atomic comprising elements. Based on this cognitive world model, we reveal the difference between relationships and entities during the conceptualization process as a foundation for distinguishing data and information. Thereafter, we show the initial case for using this formalization to construct security protection solutions for edge computing scenarios centering on type conversions among typed resources formalized through our proposed formalization of the DIKW.

From a cognitive perspective in the semantic space, we proposed the revelation of the semantics of Collatz Conjecture or the 3x+1 Problem based on our proposed Existence Computation and Reasoning(EXCR) and Essence Computation and Reasoning(ESCR) mechanism following our previous revelation of the semantics axioms of Conservation of Existence Set Axiom (CEX , Consistency of Compounded Essential Set Axiom (CES) and Inheritance of Existence Semantics Axiom (IHES ).

Based on our previous report on that prime integers are the essential basis of natural numbers and our revelation on the composition models of superficial concepts of even integers, etc, we further propose in this work the promises of reconstructing computation and reasoning at objective semantic level comprising the pure or isolated semantics such as primes.

ion. Previously we have proposed the axioms and theorems of existence-based reasoning of formal semantics of things which we denoted as existence computation (EC) as a correspondence to what Wittgenstein proposed as clarification of the meaning of words. We have further proposed the modeling of everything in terms of relationships which we formally denoted with relationship defined everything (RDE) or everything defined by relationship (EDR or XDR) as variable expression space for further illustration of EC. We present in this work our previous related formalization on the fundamentally confusing concepts of DIKW (Data, Information, Knowledge, Wisdom). We expect that this work can be an retrospect on the previous ontological formalization and lay a foundation for extensions of application of EC in RDE.

the era of service\cloud computing brings unprecedented request for quality evaluation. Existing quality evaluation usually relies on a set of organized quality properties. The organization of quality properties partially determines the quality of a quality model which usually relies on empirically accumulated knowledge and implicit understanding of the semantics relationships among quality properties. To ease building flexible, omnipresent and efficient quality evaluations which initially take the form of natural expressions, based on the hypotheses: (1) the existence of multiple semantics of a single concept/expression and (2) the existence of cognitive semantic distance among concepts, we propose an approach to support visualized and uniform semantics locating toward aiding organizing, manipulating and optimization of concepts of quality properties in a unified manner. Initial cases are illustrated.

Multiple semantics may be bundled with a concept(CPT) or an expression composed of concepts. We extend an investigation on fundamental semantics from concepts of type (TYPE) and instance (INS) to reveal relationships of expressions and semantics on problem expressions vs. answers. Core semantics of unlimited and completeness are identified as classification characteristics for clarifying and formalizing semantics of expressions towards bridging the understanding of the integration of semantics of problem expressions and answers. An approach of semantic computation which distinguishes from current conceptual modeling and problem solving is proposed with demonstrative cases. The framework of the approach is presented from core concepts, knowledge management and problem solving perspectives.

From a knowledge management perspective, we explore data cleaning of very large databases with focus on semantic rich data and linked data. We identify four aspects of complexity which, if they were not explicitly addressed and fully managed will hinder both the recognizing and attaining of the best result: (a) the inconsistency of solution knowledge due to their partial applicability among multiple concerns; (b) the side effect which is introduced during the introduction of solution knowledge for pursuing a precision relating to the existence of multiple semantics; (c) unconscious ignorance of implicit weights of some parameters for value computation; (d) a holism based reasoning which is irreplaceable by simplification for some situations. After analyzing the state of the art, we propose an ongoing Model Driven Engineering (MDE) based knowledge management platform for identifying, refining, organizing and evaluating related variants and solutions with mitigated complexity.

This paper presents an ontology-driven 3D architectural reconstruction approach based on the survey with a 3D scanner. This solution is powerful in the field of civil engineering projects to save time during t he cost process estimation. This time is saved using effici ent scanning instruments and a fast reconstruction of a digital mock-up that can be used in specific softwa re. The reconstruction approach considers the three following issues. How to define an ontology to driv e the reconstruction process? How to find semantic objects in a cloud of points? How to control an alg orithm in order to find all objects in the cloud of points? This paper underlines the solutions found for these questions.

This paper presents an ongoing research which aims at combining geometrical analysis of point clouds and semantic rules to detect 3D building objects. Firstly by applying a previous semantic formalization investigation, we propose a classification of related knowledge as definition, partial knowledge and ambiguous knowledge to facilitate the understanding and design. Secondly an empirical implementation is conducted on a simplified building prototype complying with the IFC standard. The generation of empirical knowledge rules is revealed and semantic scopes are addressed both in the bottom up manner along the line of geometry → topology → semantic, and a vice versa top down manner. Concrete implementation is on the platform of protégé with Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL).

after an investigation on existing ontology for three dimensional (3D) reconstructions of architectural objects from a cloud points achieved through 3D scanning, importance and imperativeness of completeness related issues is highlighted with the absence of logic connective “negation”. An EID-SCE based solution is proposed to fully model both humans side and machine side semantics to achieve completeness in the sense of integration and bridging of Closed world assumption (CWA) and Open world assumption (OWA). By consciously and explicitly modeling what is modeled previously implicitly and possibly unconsciously, decidability processes of object semantics are revealed with coherent traces of transformations from subjective Yes/No to objective True/False. Techniques of expressing behavioral/dynamic information and logic connective “and” without the need of extra constraints, with structural/static expressions, are also provided. Elementary implementation is shown with the creating an ontology for identification of 3D architectural objects.

Deduction and inference rules appear to help achieving new knowledge automatically. In this work, their nature of generation are revealed and evaluated from both theoretical and empirical backgrounds. The application of the rules generation is shown with the semantics rules generation for a 3D architectural project which relates the civil semantics concepts to geometrical concepts for identification and validation of objects' interactions. The extension mechanism for new natural language concepts is also revealed and evaluated.

This work is motivated by the hypothesis that ideas of the Four Color Problem (FCP) could contain important implications on semantics identification in terms of the necessary and sufficient amounts of elements and contents inside a paradigm and among paradigms from ontology creation to model objects/relationships introduction/definition. Semantics ideas of EID-SCE are adopted for the semantics revelation on FCP. The key ideas include reduction based on the equal/“=” relationship for identification and existence. The revelation is extended towards covering all necessary situations at all possible stages in a constructive manner. The work aims to be part of introduction of mathematical achievement to software modeling practices. It is initially extended towards modeling applications. The result is expected to be beneficial to efforts of gaining improvement on reusability and efficiency.

This paper presents an extension of the BIM technology that allows to manage information during the entire lifecycle of an AEC project. Usually, AEC projects and facility management are dissociated. Our building information system plays a central role in the improvement of the design and the management process. The building activity generates a great number of data and information of various kinds. The management and the communication of these data by the various participants is complex. Our design and management methods use IFC files to facilitate the sharing process for a better qualification and validation of data.

Archi3D is a successful practice well proved by engineering implementations. In this paper, both static class diagrams and dynamic constraint rules related to existing systems are investigated, optimization initiations are proposed with a semantics formalization approach called EID-SCE. Revelations and validations are extended at fundamental aspect of {OWA (open world assumption), CWA (closed world assumption)}, Yes/No vs. True/False, implicit vs. explicit, etc, to achieve formalization which could contribute to the semantics objects identification of D reconstruction processes. The expected result is gain efficiency of both description and implementation from the application of the proposed formalization.

this work aims at bound geometrical detection of 3D objects from a point cloud using semantic descriptors to improve reusability of architectural building reconstruction and aid automatic reasoning in building information modeling (BIM). Based on exploring cognitive origins of spatial semantics representations, semantics conceptualization and classification is proposed for management of architectural objects. The knowledge classification is formalized with transformations among closed world assumption (CWA) and open world assumption (OWA). Initial case study of a building prototype complying with the IFC standard reveals the organization of empirical knowledge rules and semantics scopes both in a bottom up manner of geometry à topologyà semantics, and vice versa.

Firstly this article presents a thorough discussion of semantics formalization related issues in model driven engineering (MDE). Then motivated for the purpose of software implementation, and attempts to overcome the shortcomings of incompleteness and context-sensitivity in the existing models, we propose to study formalization of semantics from a cognitive background. Issues under study cover the broad scope of overlap vs. incomplete vs. complete, closed world assumption (CWA) vs. open world assumption (OWA), Y(Yes)/N(No) vs. T(True)/F(False), subjective (SUBJ) vs. objective (OBJ), static vs. dynamic, unconsciousness vs. conscious, human vs. machine aspects, and so forth. A semantics formalization approach called EID-SCE (Existence Identification Dualism-Semantics Cosmos Explosion) is designed to meet both the theoretical investigation and implementation of the proposed formalization goals. EID-SCE supports the measure/evaluation in a {complete, no overlap} manner whether a given concept or feature is an improvement. Some elementary cases are also shown to demonstrate the feasibility of EID-SCE.
