Abstract

A dennition of cultural properties which is provided for in Cultural Properties Protection Low has been adapted broadly in the school education. They are classified into four large groups in it,tangible and intangible cultural properties,folklore data,and monuments.Cultural studies laying stress on cultural properties have consistently preserved an important place in Japanese social studies after the World War II,though they marked characteristic features according to the wave of the times. Nara Prefecture is abundantly blessed with historical features and precious ancient cultural properties,so some national or private research institutions of cultural properties have been established there.Nowadays the need of the establishment of a research institution for cultural properties education is keenly felt in order to promote cultural studies not only in social studies but broadly in the school education.We believe that Nara Prefecture will be the most suitable place for it.
