This paper presents and discusses the work and objectives developed within the project Digital Time-travels: New
strategies for archaeology and cultural heritage management?
The work is focused on the development of new methods for the presentation and publication of archaeological data,
particularly the use and effectiveness of digital methods for the presentation of archaeological information to the
public. This involves cooperation with museums and other institutions as well as the general public to develop useful
and meaningful models of past landscapes and site-contexts with the purpose of augmenting and stimulating public
awareness of archaeological remains. The papers present our work with models visualizing landscape development
and with the design and construction of an interactive interface for mediation and communication of archaeological
information through computer-terminals installed as part of museum displays, and through the Internet.
The project is funded by the Swedish National Heritage Board and is organized as a joint venture between the De +
partment of Archaeology and Ancient History at Gothenburg University, the Department of Architecture at
Chalmers University of Technology and the Department of Soil Sciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural
Sciences.

Presentamos una experiencia didáctica dirigida a estudiantes de instituto y diseñada para introducirles en el mundo del modelado en 3D y la realidad virtual orientada al patrimonio cultural. La duración de la experiencia fue de unos 40 minutos. Su finalidad era transmitir a los estudiantes una serie de conocimientos básicos del modelado de gráficos en 3D, y las características histórico–artísticas de un edificio medieval, la Cartuja de Miraflores (Burgos). Durante esta experiencia, los estudiantes pudieron modificar el modelo 3D del edificio, sus texturas, y su iluminación, así como interactuar con el modelo en una sala de realidad virtual. Los resultados de la experiencia fueron evaluados mediante encuestas realizadas a los estudiantes. Estas confirmaron que la propuesta metodológica planteada es una forma efectiva de transmitir diferentes áreas de conocimiento y estimular el interés de los estudiantes en varias disciplinas como pueden ser el arte, la historia, y los gráficos 3D.

Shore-level displacement and glacio-isostatic uplift in the area affected by the Scandinavian ice is calculated from empirical data. Besides 79 shore-level curves from Scandinavia the calculations are also based on some detailed lake-tilting investigations and information concerning present relative uplift recorded by precision levelling and tide gauge data. The course of glacio-isostatic uplift is expressed in solely mathematical terms. The model is transformed to a GIS-application using levelling data. Maps showing the distribution between land, lakes and sea at different times are produced by this application. These maps can also be designed to show changes of the hydrography through time including changes in lakes, glacial lakes, rivers and drainage basins. The accuracy of the calculated shore-levels is generally very high. A result of the calculation is that the existence of the Baltic Ice Lake is questioned as both the calculations and an analysis of the earlier used proofs of the Baltic Ice Lake show that the Baltic basin was most probably at sea level.
