Introduction
Given the aging of the population there
is aneed for effective physical exercise
interventions. Nordic Walking (NW)
adds a pair of poles to the normal
walking pattern propelling us forward
(Arrankoski & Kettunen, 2011). It is a
novel physical activity with important
advantajes in the health promotion
environment (González Castro, 2013).

Conclusions
NW is proposed as a safe physical
activity to implement as an
intervention for seniors and improve
their quality o life.
Results
6 studies were found (n=406). NW
interventions improved functional
capacity and quality of life
parameters even when compared to
other types of physical activity
(Takeshima et al., 2013).
