By the means of ten phytocoenological relevés from the mountains of the Veterné hole (phytogeographical subdistrict Lúčanská Fatra) is here presented genuine Montane forest in which Fagus sylvatica is the dominant tree species building canopy. However, only minor part of its original distribution was preserved up to present. It is confirmed, that plant community like this is a natural vegetation type also in the elevations above 1300–1350 m a.s. l. in the Western Carpathians. Such an elevation level as well as a tree species composition is beyond any of mentioned altitudinal vegetation classification. The current as well as former vegetation type on the sites was classified within the association Aceri pseudoplatani-Fagetum J. Bartsch et M. Bartsch 1940.
