Media education in a family do parents have anything to rely on?

[Show full abstract] materials available for Czech parents. They attempt to create a basic chart of options in the field of parental mediation which are offered to parents in the Czech Republic. The authors will focus on materials and supports, offered by the Czech media to parents in the field of media education and they will also evaluate, to what extent the realistic parents‟ possibilities differ from their ideas. Although the presented findings are predicated to the Czech context, the authors try to put the findings into the context and designate the main areas, which, in terms of media educational competences of parents, should be paid the attention to by the researchers.

Using the conceptualization of meaning making presented in this paper, a framework for analyzing the interaction in meaning making is proposed. This distinction helps sharpen the difference between studies that address self and others’ reactions to physical changes in bodily function which can be attributable to ageing, age associated illness or impairment and studies that explore the ‘performances’ of ageing including the various realisations of identity and lifestyle in later life.

[Show full abstract] different traditions in the science and social science literatures tackle the challenges presented by the digitally mediated environment to demonstrate that despite a growth industry in research on various features of algorithms from many disciplinary perspectives, the question as to whether there are realistic alternatives to contemporary algorithmic developments in society is neglected. The chapter examines why this is the case and gives particular attention to the whether these developments are governable, that is, subject to being shaped in different ways in the future.
