A course on carnivorous plants is described. This course is offered annually at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as part of The Young Scholars program for primary school students, ages seven through nine. The Blood Thirsty Plant series by the Garath Stevens Publishing Company is the course text. Class activities include plant propagation by means of seed, cuttings and division, the construction of a sundew model from pipe cleaners, making and eating butterwort bread, the construction of a venus flytrap puppet from a paper plate, the piecing together of jigsaw puzzles that contain images of pitcher plants in their habitats and then answering habitat riddles, and the acting out of the movements of a bladderwort trap through dance.
