Four indicators show a statistically significant trend towards the goal, one away from the goal. Trend analysis of two indicators reveals no statistically significant trend. The remaining 12 indicators could not be tested for trends because of an insufficient number of data points. All 13 indicators with quantitative target values, however, show considerable differences between the most recent data point and the target value. It is clear that the ambitious European goal to stop the loss of biodiversity by 2010 has not been attained in Germany.
