Comparison of geometry curricula with respect to objectives and content in India and England for the age group 14 to 16 years

Abstract

In this essay, the author compares the teaching of geometry in India and England to students between the age group 14 to 16 years. This is called the secondary stage in India and the Key stage 4 in England. This comparison examines general and specific objectives of the two countries' curricula and their respective cultural influences. Historical background of any country reflects in its educational curricula. Hence, initially she offers a short comparison of historical perspectives of mathematics education in both the countries which leads us to comprehend the present scenario and hence the objectives of an educational system.
