... Most taxa are separated from each other mainly on the basis of their microstructural and biochemical characters such as spore shape, color, ornamentation, and guttulation; amyloid reaction of the ascus; pigmentation of the paraphyses and excipulum structure (Barseghyan and Wasser, 2011). According to the present checklists (Solak et al., 2007;Sesli and Denchev, 2013) and the recent data on Turkish macromycota there are twenty five species of the genus Peziza found in Turkey (Akata and Yaprak, 2013). With P. lobulata the number of the members of genus reached twenty six species in Turkey. ...

... According to the recent studies this genus is represented with 16 species (27 taxa) in Turkey, of which 4 are endemic (Davis, 1975;Arabacı, 2012). In the last decade, studies about the fungi have greatly increased in Turkey (Akata, 2012;Akata and Yaprak, 2013). Further research is required, as this studies are far less than the total number of potential host plants in Turkey. ...

Spatial and temporal inventory yielded 64 species of macrofungi belonging to 34 genera in five coastal sand dunes (CSDs) of southwest India. Marasmius was the major genus (7 spp.) followed by Agaricus (5 spp.), Lentinus (4 spp.) and Lepiota (4 spp.). Thirty six species were confined to any one of the CSDs, while only Termitomyces striatus distributed in all dunes. Correlation between biotic (species richness, sporocarp richness and diversity) and nine abiotic (air, 2 factors; soil, 7 factors) factors revealed positive correlation of total species (r = 0.396, p = 0.05) and total exclusive species (r = 0.407, p = 0.043) against humidity. Sandy soil was preferred substrate of macrofungi (34 spp.) followed by woody substrate (22 spp.). Some preferred twigs, grass and herbivore dung, while others grew on dual substrates (soil/leaf litter; soil/wood; leaf litter/twig). Twenty two species of macrofungi are economically valuable as edible, medicinal and ectomycorrhizal. Amanita sp., Termitomyces schimperi and T. striatus are delicacy for coastal dwellers. Major hindrances for perpetuation of macrofungi in CSDs include sand extraction, wood extraction and clearing vegetation and debris by fire. Preservation of virgin dunes and rehabilitation of degraded dunes will provide ample scope to follow assemblage, divesity and ecological services of macrofungi in coastal habitats. Key words: Abiotic factors, Disturbance, Economic value, Human interference, Mushrooms, Substrate preference

Although coastal sand dunes (CSDs) and mangroves are important biogeographic ecological zones in India, they are threatened due to human interference (encroachment, urbanization, sand mining and fishery activities). This chapter projects occurrence of macrofungi in CSDs and mangroves based on surveys in Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka State) during monsoon season (June–October). A brief description of fourteen macrofungi based on field and laboratory observations along with their extent of occurrence, substrate preference and commercial value is given. Some macrofungi occurring on the CSDs and mangroves are edible and dependent on sandy/silty soils, leaf litter, woody litter and herbivore dung (e.g. Coprinus plicatilis, Lycoperdon decipiens and Termitomyces schimperi). Some are ectomycorrhizal in CSDs or in mangroves (Collybia fusipes, Inocybe petchii and Lycoperdon decipiens). This study as well as earlier observations revealed occurrence of several edible, medicinal and mycorrhizal macrofungi in CSDs and mangroves. Currently, CSDs and mangroves are highly neglected and it is necessary to safeguard, promote and utilize macrofungal resources as social and cultural heritage of coastal dwellers. This paper documents the distribution and diversity of macrofungi in coastal sand dunes characterized by less, moderate and severe disturbance regimes of the south-western India. Diversity was higher in moderately disturbed dunes compared to less or severely disturbed dunes. Among the 38 macrofungi recovered, ten, six, two and one species were edible, ectomycorrhizal, medicinal and considered to be of decorative value, respectively. Ten macrofungi were dominant (≥5 fruit bodies/625 m2 ) on the coastal sand dunes. These were Amanita sp., Collybia dryophila var. extuberans, C. fusipes, Coprinus plicatilis, Dacryopinax spathularia, Lactarius sp., Lentinus squarrosulus, Marasmius kisangensis, Marasmius sp. 2 and Scleroderma citrinum). The coastal sand dunes are under severe anthropogenic pressure, especially urbanization, sand extraction, agricultural activities and seawall construction. The revegetated dunes are mainly represented by exotic tree species (e.g., Acacia and Casuarina), which are often harvested. Due to the removal of native vegetation and the ‘grow and harvest’ policy associated with exotic trees, the native flora, fauna and macrofungi of the coastal sand dunes are severely threatened. The results obtained in the present pilot study point out the need for long-term temporal and spatial investigation of the macrofungal resource of coastal sand dunes to gain a more comprehensive knowledge on their abundance, diversity, ecological significance, benefits and what must be done to implement strategies necessary for conservation.

This paper provides a compilation of available data on the myxomycetes, larger ascomycetes, and larger basidiomycetes reported from or known to occur in Turkey. Three main lists of correct names of myxomycetes, larger ascomycetes, and larger basidiomycetes, recognized as occurring in Turkey, are given, in which the taxa are alphabetically arranged. For each taxon, references are cited. An index of synonyms based on literature records from Turkey is appended. A list of excluded records, providing reasons for their exclusion, is also given. The complete checklists are available on: http://www.mycotaxon.com/.
