Factors such as the vastness of geological location, the diversity of climate and vegetation in Turkiye, as it applies to other insect groups, also bring diversity to insects that belong in the Heteroptera order. The Heteroptera fauna in Turkiye, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries, has been studied by both local and international researchers, thus significant findings were obtained. Species represented in the Turkish fauna and their associated upper taxa, within each family group are alphabetically listed in their filogenetic order in this catalogue. The category locations of endemic species as well as the national and international distributions of those species are the primary features presented here. The following features of the catalogue in respective order is relevant information on the species’ habitats, the zoogeographical classes, their economical significance, their abundance and feeding habits that are also briefly mentioned. Deceased Professor Dr. Feyzi Onder who had spent long years studying the Turkish Heteroptera fauna, has complied and reviewed this catalogue within the years 1995-2000. His work was then reviewed by his peers and prepared for publication after he passed away. In the meantime this publication was updated in the light of the more recent information gathered on Turkey’s Heteroptera fauna. It will be kindly appreciated if the possible inefficiencies and flaws detected in the text are informed to those who prepare this catalogue, in which it is intended to reflect the condition of 1526 species/subspecies belonging in a total of 40 different families of Heteroptera fauna, as observed by the end of year 2005. This way the necessary corrections can be made in the later editions. In hopes that this effort will benefit those who work in this field and students of agriculture, biology and environment both nationally and internationally likewise…
