Lymphomatoid papulosis (LyP) is a cyclic papulonodular eruption that is clinically benign and histologically malignant. Association with hematologic neoplasias has been reported in 5% to 20% of all cases.
We sought to review the clinical and histopathologic features of LyP in pediatric patients.
We searched for the records of all patients with a clinical and histopathologic diagnosis of LyP seen at our clinic from January 1991 through April 2008. The cases of pediatric patients (aged < 20 years) were reviewed in detail.
Of 123 patients with LyP identified, 14 (11%) were in the pediatric age group. Most were male (64%); mean age of onset was 12 years. Type A LyP was identified in 12 patients, one patient had type B, and none had type C (type not determined in one case). Ten cases showed CD8 predominance by immunohistochemistry. T-cell intracytoplasmic antigen staining was positive in 3 cases of CD8(+) LyP type A and the one case of LyP type B. Lesional T-cell receptor gene rearrangement studies were negative in 9 of 10 patients with LyP type A. The average follow-up time was 5.5 years. Lesions improved with treatment in most cases, and none of the cases were associated with hematologic malignancies.
This was a retrospective review.
Among our pediatric patients, we noted a predominance of CD8(+) LyP, which does not seem to have an aggressive course. Further longitudinal studies are necessary to evaluate prognostic differences between CD4(+) and CD8(+) LyP and their biological significance.

Sie wird nach der WHO/EORTC-Klassifikation der kutanen Lymphome den CD30-positiven, lymphoproliferativen Erkrankungen zugeordnet. Fallberichte über ein Auftreten im Kindes- und Jugendalter sind beschrieben, ein Vorkommen bei Kleinkindern ist jedoch äußerst selten. Wir berichten über einen 2 1/2-jährigen Jungen mit seit ca. 1 Jahr rezidivierend auftretenden Knoten im Gesicht und Stamm, die spontan abheilen. In Zusammenschau des klinischen Verlaufs und der histopathologischen Untersuchung konnte die Diagnose einer lymphomatoiden Papulose gestellt werden.

    ABSTRACT: We are developing a high-quality flexible coaxial cable with a diameter of less than 1 mm. It is difficult to carry out precise measurement using the conventional coaxial connectors that are commercially available. Therefore, we have developed a high frequency measurement method for determining the characteristics of a small-diameter coaxial cable without exclusive connectors. In this method, a time domain reflectometry (TDR) measurement system and a microwave vector network analyzer (VNA) are used with a microwave probe station. The cables are molded using resin and cut vertically with a cutting tool. The surfaces of the cable edges are polished to obtain a good electrical contact. Microwave contact probes (SG or GS type) are used. We have precisely measured the characteristics of 0.8-mm-diameter coaxial cables. The impedance distribution and S parameters were successfully evaluated by TDR and VNA measurement respectively. The impedance distortion at the probe contact was negligible. The effects of the connection performance are discussed in detail.

    ABSTRACT: Recent data have shown that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma agonists may exert protective effects on the vascular endothelium by amelioration of insulin resistance and through direct anti-inflammatory effects. In this study we assessed the effect of rosiglitazone on biochemical and biophysical indexes of endothelial function in male, nondiabetic patients with coronary artery disease. Consecutive male subjects (n = 71) with clinically stable, angiographically documented coronary artery disease and without diabetes mellitus were investigated. Patients were randomized in a double-blind manner to placebo or rosiglitazone for a total of 24 weeks. Flow-mediated dilation (FMD) of the brachial artery, C-reactive protein, von Willebrand factor, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 levels, and parameters of glucose and lipid metabolism were measured at baseline and after 12 and 24 weeks of treatment. Rosiglitazone treatment significantly reduced C-reactive protein (median 0.56 mg/L [interquartile range 0.33 to 1.02] to 0.33 mg/L [interquartile range 0.26 to 0.40], p <0.01), von Willebrand factor (139 +/- 47 to 132 +/- 44 IU/dl, p = 0.02), insulin resistance index (p = 0.05), and mean low-density lipoprotein (LDL) density (p <0.001) compared with placebo. However, no significant differences were seen between the rosiglitazone and placebo groups with regard to brachial artery FMD, intercellular adhesion molecule-1, or vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 levels. Rosiglitazone treatment significantly increased LDL (2.62 +/- 0.72 to 2.95 +/- 0.84 mmol/L, p = 0.03) and triglyceride (1.23 +/- 0.63 to 1.56 +/- 0.98 mmol/L, p = 0.04) levels. Thus, rosiglitazone reduced markers of inflammation and endothelial activation, but this did not translate into an improvement in FMD. Increased LDL and triglyceride levels may have played a role.
