slovenskim in angleškim poimenovanjem vrste, velikostjo telesa, slišno razdaljo, s katere lahko
slišimo posamezno vrsto, podatku o habitatih vrste in razširjenosti vrste v Sloveniji. Poleg slikovnega

who will find many novelties on Orthoptera fauna in Slovenia. In researching the checklist of
Slovenian Orthoptera, we found out that there are currently 157 species present in Slovenia, 5 were
deleted from the list, some species were updated to their current valid or revised names. Certainly,
this checklist will now be much faster updated and supplemented with new species, as it represents
a long-awaited review of Slovenian Orthoptera.

UVOD
Knjiga in priložena zgoščenka obrav-
obratno. Knjiga in zgoščenka skupaj sta
3, zato sta knjiga in mobilni telefon ti-
sto, kar potrebujemo za prepoznavanje
zvokov in kobilic v naravi. Zvoke prene-
semo na mobilni telefon, knjigo priroč-
nega formata pa spravimo v žep in že
smo pripravljeni na opazovanje kobilic.
Namen knjige in zgoščenke je spodbu-
diti dodatno terensko delo, saj na tem
področju manjka poljudna literatura, ki
je strokovno dovolj zanesljiva za lažjo
določitev sorodnih vrst. S knjigo želimo
tudi opozoriti na veliko biotsko raznovr-
stnost pojočih kobilic v Sloveniji.
V kompletu so predstavljene le vrste ko-
bilic, ki proizvajajo nam slišne napeve,
ostalih 60 vrst pa tu ni zajetih. Od sku-
paj 157 za Slovenijo znanih vrst kobilic

INTRODUCTION
The book and the enclosed CD present
only the singing species of Orthoptera in
Slovenia, which we managed to record
and to photograph after studying them
for several years. They represent 99 taxa
of the Slovenian Orthoptera, namely 97
species and 2 subspecies. The book is a
photographic supplement to the CD with
sound recordings of Orthopteran son-
gs which are audible to our ears. For a
better orientation on species in the book
and on the CD, photos and sounds are
labeled with the same serial number.
Thus, the user can easily find the song
on the CD and the corresponding spe-
cies in the book or vice versa. The book
and the CD together are intended for na-
ture lovers, who will find it an easier way
to expand their knowledge on Slovenian
species of singing Orthoptera. Currently,
almost every mobile phone can be used
to play back songs of Orthoptera, which
are on the CD in MPEG 3 format; so that
the book and a cell phone are all we need
to identify sounds and Orthoptera in their
natural environment. With sounds trans-
ferred to a mobile phone and the book in
your pocket - you are ready to observe
the Orthoptera in the wild. In addition,
the book and the CD are geared towards
encouraging fieldwork, as there is no po-
pular literature covering this domain, and
it is sufficiently professionally reliable to
facilitate the identification of closely rela-
ted species. It should be noted, however,
that the book and the CD present only
species that produce songs which are
audible to the human ear; the remaining
60 species are not included in this set.
Out of a total of 157 known species of

je v knjigi predstavljenih malo manj kot
dve tretjini. Od pojočih, pri nas prisotnih
vrst, nam ni uspelo posneti nekaterih
redkih ali za Slovenijo vprašljivih vrst
kobilic. Nekaterih kljub starim naved-
jih poznamo danes. Nekatere, nekdaj
prisotne vrste pri nas, so zaradi spre-
memb rabe prostora, kot kaže, pri nas
izginile. Vrste, ki nam jih v zadnjih letih
ni uspelo najti so: Stenobothrus fischeri
(Eversmann, 1848), Bucephaloptera bu-
cephala (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1882),
Poecilimon thoracicus (Fieber, 1853),
Pachytrachis frater (Brunner von Watten-
wyl, 1882), Nemobius sylvestris (Bosc,
179 2), Arcyptera microptera (Fischer de
Waldheim, 1833), Arcyptera brevipennis
(Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1861), Chorthi-
ppus dichrous (Eversmann, 1859), Pse-
udochorthippus montanus (Charpenti-
er, 1825), Chorthippus pullus (Philippi,
1830), Myrmeleotettix maculatus (Thun-
berg, 1815), Celes variabilis (Pallas,
teriala in časa doslej še nismo posne-
li: Euchorthippus pulvinatus (Fischer de
Waldheim, 1846), Andreiniimon nuptialis
(Karny, 1918), nekaj vrst iz rodu Isophya
in Platycleis s.l.
Orthoptera in Slovenia (published and un-
published findings), a little less than two-
-thirds of them are portrayed here. From
the singing species living in Slovenia, we
have failed to capture some rare species;
in Slovenia the existence of some among
these is currently questionable. Despite
quotes in older sources, we could no lon-
ger find some of them: this is either due
to misidentification or to the level of old
sources that did not differentiate as many
species as are known today. Some spe-
cies formerly present in Slovenia seem
to have disappeared due to changes in
land use. Species that we could not find
in recent years are: Stenobothrus fischeri
(Eversmann, 1848), Bucephaloptera bu-
cephala (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1882),
Poecilimon thoracicus (Fieber, 1853), Pa-
chytrachis frater (Brunner von Wattenwyl,
1882), Nemobius sylvestris (Bosc, 1792),
Arcyptera microptera (Fischer de Wald-
heim, 1833), Arcyptera brevipennis (Brun-
ner von Wattenwyl, 1861), Chorthippus
dichrous (Eversmann, 1859), Chorthi-
ppus montanus (Charpentier, 1825),
Chorthippus pullus (Philippi, 1830), Myr-
meleotettix maculatus (Thunberg, 1815),
Celes variabilis (Pallas, 1771). Owing to a
lack of material and time, we also have
not been successful in recording some
of the species, whose presence in Slove-
nia has recently been confirmed. These
are: Euchorthippus pulvinatus (Fischer
de Waldheim, 1846), Andreiniimon nup-
tialis (Karny, 1918), some species from
Genus Isophya and Platycleis s.l. Other
Orthoptera species do not produce audi-
ble songs in a manner that could be per-
ceived by our senses - although we know
that they communicate with one another
in other ways, including short distance
oscillations produced by the abdomen,
