Herbicides offer an economic and efficient control of weeds. To evaluate the performance of Metsulfuron-methyl 200lo WDG for weed suppression and to find out an appropriate dose of the herbicide, field experiments were conducted at Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), Gazipur in Aus, 2010 and BRRI, Rangpur, during Boro, 2071. Lfetsulfuron-methyl 20o/o WDG @ 60, 80 and 1009 ha-1 was apptied.

The most dominant weeds were C5tperus diffomis, Monochoria uaginalis and Echinochloa crus-galli. Cyperus diffomis was at the higher rank of dominant in both years. Application of Metsulfuron-methgl 2Oo/o WDG @ 80g hat gave more than 80% weed control efficiency, lower number and dry weight of weeds which ultimately resulted in higher yield attributes and grain yield of transplanted rice.
