The process to develop a life cycle management plan for turbine driven auxiliary feed water (AFW) pump is described. Life cycle management (LCM) is the integration of ageing/obsolescence management with economic planning to optimize the operation, maintenance and service life of the equipment, maintain an acceptable level of performance, safety, reliability and to enhance the return on investment. In short LCM is a guide for operational and investment decisions with focus on long term ageing and reliability of the component. It is developed on the basis of component failure modes, operating history, maintenance practices, ageing, spares and obsolescence.
