In the field of technology management, methods have been developed to detect technologies that are important in industry by analyzing massive numbers of documents. Such methods have been applied to the field of the Internet of Things as well to investigate technological trends. The Internet of Things consists of several conventional concepts, such as radio frequency identification, near field communication, and sensor networks. However, no research compares these technologies by analyzing massive quantities of papers and patents. Thus, in this study, we explored the research areas of technologies related to the Internet of Things, for which there are opportunities for commercialization in the near future. We also discuss potential applications of these technologies in diverse systems.

This paper suggests improved model of librarian helper robot to diminish librarian workload such as book loans and book returns. The existing unmanned book lending system performs book search and book return at the fixed location. Our system provides book-search through DB, mobile robot control through the Zigbee communication, scanning the RFID tag attached to the book. In the experiment, five-axis multi-joint robot is controlled through Zigbee communication and server PC manages all of the information. The recognition rate about wanted book was about 98 %. Our mobile robot has brought the book exactly to designated place. Through experimentation, we confirmed that suggested model can be applied to the library.

Given the importance and wide scope of Wi-Fi applications within academic environs in developed countries and its use in library services, its utilization within academic libraries in Iran is felt. While presenting Wi-Fi networks, the present study employed a survey of librarians and faculty members in Shiraz University to investigate their the outlook and viewpoints regarding the deployment of such networks in academic libraries. Findings demonstrated that librarians are very inclined to use Wi-Fi in library services such as listing, shelf-reading and OPAC and demand comprehensive network coverage throughout the entire library spaces. Meanwhile, faculty members expressed the necessity of increasing use of such networks all over the campus and remote access to library resources. Generally given the outcome of the present investigation, although Wi-Fi application in libraries is a novel and emerging phenomenon yet to catch on in Iran, librarians, researchers and professors are very keen about its use and application within academic environments.

Recently, the needs of RFID is increasing due to the convenience of reading without buttery. However, most of legacy passive RFID antennas are in the hard boxes, which have negative appearance. This poor design, limits the use of RFIDs in commercial field, especially in the luxury shops. To solve this problems, we have developed new RFID antenna named ¿IntelliGlass¿ using special thin conductive films on the glass. Our RFID circuits are totally transparent unlike instead of copper line. In this paper, we will show you the new design and implementation of transparent RFID antennas, which has four multiple detecting areas.

Recently the wireless location systems become an important issue for all libraries. RFID is an innovative automated library system for automatic identification and pathway of library material. An automated library with the support of RFID technology would be a “self service center for library. Utilizing RFID-tagged book retrieval is a purpose advance for the library search system namely Library Book Exhausting Retrieval Supporting System. This paper presents the development of this utilizing RFID implementation flow and as well as the laboratory scale system structure. The book list mode offers a corresponding list of the bookshelves and the misplaced books regularly for a librarian to localize all misplaced books in the wrong bookshelves and will prove immediate and long term benefits to library in traceability and security.

The literature has indicated that libraries in developed countries are fast growing early adopters of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The other sector of early adopters is distributors who use the technology primarily in the supply chain. The literature abounds with studies on perceived and expected problems with RFID in the supply chain but is sparse on performance and reliability of the technology in library environments. This has prompted researchers to suggest that there is a need for investigation of RFID in library environments. The study will measure performance of RFID library system at a university library by examining factors, namely tag placement, reader orientation sensitivity, read rate, reading distance, and metal and electromagnetic interference. Test procedures will be created to record accuracy rate, which will be further analyzed with a spectrum analyzer to understand the behavior of RFID tag reader communication in the library environment. The findings will help to determine best practices to optimize the performance of the technology.
