Abstract

Drawing on his experience of three different pastoral contexts, Kevin Ellis seeks to put the questions of how the Churches in England interact with working class culture, and indeed in what ways do the those who consider themselves to be working class interact with the Church, back on the agenda. The author suggests that one of the gifts that the Church has to offer is to renew the stories against which working class people live their lives; arguing that this needs to happen first before Christian communities are able to tell afresh stories of Jesus.
