Matthias Bel and Trnava. An analysis of Latin written sources?

The Hungarian polyhistor Matthias Bel (1684-1749) is an outstanding figure of Slovak and Hungarian culture history. He was one of the promoters and organizers of scientific research in Slovakia. During his work he came into contact with the town of Trnava and its inhabitants. The present study offers an analysis of historical and literary texts proving the connection between Bel and Trnava. Most importantly, in his Notitia Hungariae novae historico-geographica , Tomus II (Vienna 1736) Trnava is described on 100 pages. Further, his correspondence with a town senator and a number of private persons has been preserved. In addition, Schwandtner's work Scriptores rerum Hungaricarum (1765) was published in Trnava with an introduction by Bel. The analyzed documents prove Bel's positive, even warm relationship to Trnava and its inhabitants.

Historical Parks as an Element of Rural Landscape in Slovakia

This paper describes the present state of historical gardens and parks which were founded around domiciles of the gentry in the area of Turiec valley, Slovakia. Almost forty of these manor houses are located in the area. In the past, the park or the ornamental garden was created in the immediate vicinity of these buildings. Natural landscape parks have been preserved to the best degree by nobility in Mosovce and Turcianska Stiavnicka which used to belong to the Revay family. The park in the village Zaturcie is partially well preserved. The other parks and gardens were destroyed to a large degree and their existence can be accounted for only by occasional older trees. Some difficulties in conservation or reconstruction of these historical landscapes are described in the presented work as well.

The most important ceremonial space at the Royal Palace in Budapest is the Saint Stephen's Hall is due for reconstruction. This will require the restoration of some elements and research into how to remanufacture lost items. Fortunately for this project enough information is held in archive form, has been preserved in private collections and the skills required are still practised.

[Show full abstract] restorations, that are more invasive than a continuous and preventive maintenance. The part of the research presented in this paper deals with prevention of timber biotic decay. Although technical literature about monitoring and conservation of timber building elements is quite wide, an easily accessible documentation for unskilled persons – as the users of a generic building – is not available, neither it is a practical guide for the execution of simple periodic controls. In light of the theoretical and practical knowledge given in the specialized technical literature, this article presents the project of a vademecum for users of traditional buildings that have timber constructive elements. The vademecum can give users the opportunity to directly and personally act on the building or to appeal to a specialist and perform more thorough diagnostic tests before decay appears or it reaches serious levels.

Taking full advantage of recent progress in Chinese historical phonology, this paper attempts to gain a better understanding of the Bailang language and the version of Han Chinese that must have been spoken by the scribe who committed the poems to writing.

El proyecto respeta la imagen y memoria histórica creando una arquitectura contemporánea, sostenible y eficiente.ABSTRACT:The project starts with the old village school restoration to create a new cultural center in the main square of Elgoibar. The intervention preserves historical building stone walls, leaving its facades as a container where we develop the project, creating a new architecture with a flexible layout, connecting areas and functions. The program distribution takes care about the relationship between the building and the square “Aita Agirre” and the sequence: public space - private space, noisy space - silent space, which happens while we get inside the building. This project respects the historical image of the building creating a new contemporary efficient sustainable architecture.
