This paper deals with the paedagogic strategies used by humanist Juan Lorenzo Palmireno to improve in his students the capacity for improvising in Latin and vernacular language correctly and fluently. This bilingual training programm is directly related to the rhetorical exercises included in the Segunda parte del Latino de repente, where this humanist enlightens theoretical advice with a vaste range of examples composed by himself, in order to show how to amplify a simple text through the extensive vocabulary learned in the available repertories.
