Abstract

Bhatty proposed in his early work (1999-2008) that games are a media form of their own, thus each topic could be produced - even the life of Anne Frank. In 2012 Game Design student Gerhard 'Kira' Schmieja developed for his bachelor thesis a prototype of the secret annex wherin Anne Frank and her family took refuge. Instead of calling it 'game' he refered to it as iXP - interactive experience. In his article Bhatty defines the necessities of entering the more sensitive topics and approaches for developers regarding historical responsibility, ranging from research to avoiding elusive political correctness.
