Abstract

In this work, I intend to present a bibliographic review on imperative derived Discourse Markers (DMs), considering four romanic languages in order to investigate morphosyntatic and semantic-pragmatic similarities and differences between the approaches. Visual perception verbs associated to the second person in imperative contexts tend to rise DMs in many languages, such as "mira" and "¿ves?" in Spanish (cf. PONS BORDERIA, 1998a, 1998b; DOMINGUEZ; ALVAREZ, 2005), "regarde" and "vois-tu" in French (cf. respectively, DOSTIE, 1998; VICENTE; VOTRE; LAFOREST, 1993), "guarda" in Italian (cf. WALTEREIT, 2002) and "olha/vê" in Portuguese (cf. ROST, 2002). Nevertheless, although imperative derived DMs exist in many languages, they do not have exactly the same functions. Keywords: Romanic languages. Discourse markers. Morphosyntatic similarities. Differences semantic-pragmatic.
