The long process of misunderstanding between the former American colonies and its metropolis, opened with the independence of the colonies, has a unique exception: the American adventure of Xavier Mina, the young "guerrillero" of the Peninsular War, which in 1816 decided it was worth to fight on American soil for Mexican independence, without renounce to fight for the freedom of Spanish people.
