LA FORMACIÓN DE LA NACIÓN BRASILEÑA. PERSPECTIVA HISTÓRICA

It's difficult to define what a nation is. There is no unanimity as far as the starting point of such a phenomenon is concerned. Nobody knows whether it will exist for ever. The author is discussing the importance of a territory, of the specific language, of a specific culture, of some symbols, and of the state for the building of the Brazilian nation. The author states that the most important national problem nowadays is still the social exclusion of large groups of the Brazilian population. The socially excluded people can't participate fully in national life. Some of them are ex-cluded in fact from the national community too.

As an illustration, the relation of a clinical case will show how, in the course of psychogenic amenorrhoea, the body undergoes a process of "jouissance" that translates into a kind of "organ paralysis", along with the dormant state of one physiological function and the whole body. Psychotherapy enabled one of the subjects to awaken her inhibited body after she had unrolled the significant elements of her desire. Addressing to the Other of language allowed her to create a social link and thus, undo the symptom.

W końcowej partii artykułu autor odwołuje się do koncepcji mitu Leszka Kołakowskiego, aby uzasadnić tezę, że każdy naród, także w pierwszych dekadach XXI wieku, jest zawsze wspólnotą mityczną, która nieustannie się reaktywuje również w kontekście działań politycznych i ideologicznych.</p
