    ABSTRACT: This article reflects on the headway of eLearning in our society as well as on the needs and requirements that it consequently posts, mainly favorable and successful results as for its effectiveness and quality. Bearing in mind the actual state of this learning methodology, both issues turn out solved effectively. Regarding efficiency, the outcome obtained in the research projects, show up at least e-Learning is comparable with on-site education, not being exclusive. As for quality, the current regulations and the different assessment methods make the eLearning a fitting option as suitable as others in our society.

    ABSTRACT: Objective: evaluate a virtual learning environment to support the teaching of the anatomy in Medical School of the University Pedagogical and Technological of Colombia. Measure the effect on academic performance and the perception students. Materials and methods: cross-sectional study and ex pos facto. Results and conclusions: the perception of the virtual learning environment was good and in line with expectations of students. In courses in which the VLE improved teacher-student interaction and student-student, produced a favorable impact on learning. The Virtual learning environment was an alternative and complement to the amphitheater practice. Recommendations: to assess more accurately the impact on academic achievement of the VLE further research are needed. It is recommended to seek the support of the office of virtual education for the creation of virtual objects and even develop systems simulation.
