ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RECENTLY FOUND BACTERIAL STRAINS TENTATIVELY DESIGNATED AS 'PASTEURELLA X'

The authors report on the cultural, biochemical, serological and immunological properties as well as on animal experimentation of 40 strains of a bacterial species tentatively designated as 'pasteurella X' of which two are of human and 38 of animal origin. They were isolated and independently identified as Pasteurella pseudotuberculosis in Denmark, Germany, Holland, Sweden and Switzerland. From common morphological, cultural, biochemical and serological characteristics, the authors conclude that all these strains belong to a species different from Pasteurella pseudotuberculosis.

Other European countries either are in the process of creating their own registries or use other data sources.

External cost estimates of road traffic accidents: an international comparison

Musafir, who is accepted as the founder of it in XII century, and shows syncretic features since it has been affected by different belief systems; and is an ethno religion whose members have been formed by Kurds. [Show full abstract] Ezidi population which was approximately 140 by the end of 2012 is decreasing in Beşiri town centre, in its villages and in Batman day by day. The population cannot be determined exactly; however, it is known that there are 3-5 Ezidi families living in Batman centre. Ezidis, whom we visited in villages of Beşiri and in Beşiri centre within the context of this study in 2012, migrated especially into European countries and Northern Iraq because of political, economic and religious reasons they experienced in 1980s. This migration has accelerated since the early of 1990, and still continues. Because of the migration into European countries such as Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark, the Ezidi population in Batman and its nearby vicinity is at the risk of being extinct. This study aims to find out the final state, the most recent residential places and Ezidi population in Batman and its vicinity whose number, we think, will descend to zero in terms of population unless there happens a reverse migration from abroad in the future. During the research, some Ezidi villages could not be visited because of security reasons, yet the information was obtained from some Ezidis who accepted our requests to interview in return for their names not being declared. Sera from cattle imported to Poland were tested for Bovine Herpes virus I antibodies. 1325 animals were examined between 2000-2001 and specific antibodies were detected in 110 (8,3%) cases. 45 (6,6%) out of the 677 heads of cattle imported from the Netherlands were serologically positive while 65 (10,8%) animals out of the 603 imported from Germany showed positive results. 2473 sera were examined ... [Show full abstract] in 2002 and the presence of antibodies against BHV1 was found in 39 (1,6%) animals. 12 (1,1%) of the cattle imported from Germany and 27 (2,8%) from the Netherlands reacted positively. Animals imported from Denmark, France and Sweden were free from BHV1.

The data on which this book is based were collected for the 2000 Families: Migration Histories of Turks in Europe project. The unique design of the study can be characterised as origin-oriented, multi-site and multi-generational. It is origin-oriented because we focus on migrants and their descendants in European countries alongside their comparators who stayed behind in Turkey. It is multi-site ... [Show full abstract] because it starts in five distinct origin regions and traces migrants in nine main European destination countries: Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Finally, it is multi-generational because we start with the cohort of labour migrants, born between 1920 and 1945, who moved to Europe between 1961 and 1974. We identify them and their equivalent, non-migrant comparators and trace both lineages over generations, following their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren wherever they are on the globe.
