Si è scartata la possibilità di inserire il materiale per la correzione acustica sulle pareti dei palchetti e sulle superfici esterne delle balaustre dei palchetti. Soluzione questa avrebbe danneggiato l'estetica e la funzionalità della sala. Come superfici libere utili ed estremamente influenti sull'acustica della sala sono state scelte quelle della torre scenica (Figura 6). Il vantaggio che tali superfici è che non sono visibili dagli spettatori e che sono particolarmente estese.

Passive Strategies for Building Renovation in Temperate Climate

Determine most suitable sustainable strategies, both traditional and innovative, to renovate existing buildings in countries where overheating in summer is a particularly relevant issue, such as in the Mediterranean climate. The strategies must aim to reduce the energy needs and to improve indoor thermal comfort; some examples are the exploitation of night time natural ventilation, the enhancement of the thermal capacity of the outer envelope, the use of solar chimneys, highly reflective (cool) coatings, green roofs and façades, and shading devices. IEA SHC TAsk 59: Renovating Historic Buildings Towards Zero Energy

Historic buildings make up a considerable part of our building stock (one fourth for Europe). They are the trademark of numerous cities, and they will only survive if maintained as a living space. This means, that in order to save this heritage for future generations, we need to find conservation compatible energy retrofit approaches and solutions, which allow to preserve the historic and aesthetic values while increasing comfort, lowering energy bills and minimizing environmental impact. In the last 10 years a shift in paradigm could be observed: While in times of the first EPBD, a strong opposition from conservators and architects could be observed – “don’t touch these buildings” – there is growing a new openness, a much more constructive approach – “let’s find the right solutions together”. Examples for this development are last but not least the installation of the International Scientific Committee on Energy and Sustainability within ICOMOS and the development of “Guidelines for improving the energy performance of historic buildings” (EN16883, now under final vote) by the CEN TC 346 on Conservation of Cultural Heritage. ... The 4-year EU-funded H2020 e-SAFE project, started in October 2020, aims to develop an innovative system to combine the earthquake-proof, energy-efficient and architectural renovation of existing b uildings. Mouthpiece and Bell Effects on Trombone Resonance

TThe effects of the mouthpiece and bell on the frequencies of the vibrating air column in a trombone can be demonstrated quite readily by first calculating the expected resonant frequencies of a piece of PVC pipe that is the same length as a trombone, then replacing portions of the PVC pipe of the same length with first a cup-shaped mouthpiece and then a flaring-bell section of a trombone. Can one detect passage of small black hole through the Earth?

The energy losses of a small black hole passing through the Earth are examined. In particular, we investigate the excitations in the frequency range accessible to modern acoustic detectors. The main contribution to the effect is given by the coherent sound radiation of the Cherenkov type.

Beamforming performance can be improved in two ways: optimizing the location of microphones on the acoustic array and applying advanced beamforming algorithms. In this study, the effects of the two approaches are studied. An optimization method is developed to optimize the location of microphones for an acoustic array used in an open-jet anechoic wind tunnel. Then the benefits of using the ... [Show full abstract] optimized array with the recently-developed advanced beamforming algorithm, the High-Resolution (HR) CLEAN-SC algorithm are investigated. The microphone locations were optimized to obtain both good resolution and low side lobe levels. By using the optimized array and applying the HR CLEAN-SC algorithm, it was found that two closely-spaced sound sources can be resolved in a broad frequency range below the Rayleigh limit. The findings have also been confirmed through experimental validation.
