Our picture in the West of life in Russia and the former Soviet Union is mainly, coloured by reports from the major centres Moscow or St Petersburg. But what is realty happening in the vast Russian heartland the thousands of miles ‐ beyond Moscow, where the people voted’ to give reform a chancel Following five year's as Moscow correspondent, Michael Binyon took a trip through the Russian provinces to find people asserting their diverse abilities, desires and achievements on the long and difficult road towards the possibility of a surprisingly optimistic future.
