Reviews 3 publications (1905-1913) on the task and the methods of psychology in theology. G. Wobbermin's book in German embodies a formal effort made to set forth a psychological method for the use of theologians. The book is divided in 2 parts. In the first part, the place of theology in the system of the sciences is considered, and in the second part, which chiefly interests the psychologists, a psychological method for the solution of theological problems is offered. The task of theology is described as the discovery of essential content of religion and of the fundamental motives and tendencies expressed in religious faith-convictions. E. Troeltsch differentiates from Wobbermin, in that he rejects the faith-metaphysics, and affirms the uniformity and the similarity of human experience.
