Search engine optimization (SEO) pertains to the activity of optimizing individual websites and webpages to get higher page rank in the search results. Websites are ordinarily optimized through back links, while individual webpages are optimized through specific keywords. In this paper, we propose a framework based on set of guidelines for keyword research analysis and back links generation. The proposed framework suggests that webpage content should be based on keywords and the site traffic should be monitored through referrals. We argue that if a website has some prevalent and pertinent keywords in its content and title along with a reasonable amount of back links that help watch the website traffic, then we can get better rank for the website in the search results. The framework also emphasizes that proper keyword selection and link building should be taken into account when developers and designers work on a software development project. The results of the study are reported here.

Swarm-based intelligent optimization algorithms that employ principles of collective behavior have been gaining traction as a viable solution in optimization research. One area of optimization is the Examination Timetabling Problem (ETP), which presents a significant challenge in many Higher Education Institutes (HEIs). This paper proposes a novel approach to solving the Uncapacitated Examination Timetabling Problem (UETP) where a stepping-ahead mechanism is utilized with threshold acceptance in the Firefly Algorithm (FA). The proposed method improves exploration with the use of the stepping-ahead mechanism, while threshold acceptance allows for better exploitation of the search space. Initially, a neighborhood search mechanism is employed as the discretization of FA to improve solution quality, known as Kempe Chain-based neighborhoods. The proposed method is tested on 7 UETP problems, with the results showing comparative performance to the best solutions available in the literature for the Toronto exam timetabling dataset. The selection of seven problems is made with exams totaling less than 400, this allows to create a manageable yet representative benchmark. The study further extends the experiment to a real-world dataset collected from an HEI. The use of a real-world dataset allows us to see the potential of the algorithm and at the same time evaluate its performance under realistic conditions and resource constraints. The proposed stepping-ahead mechanism has the potential for use in other domains, such as robotics and engineering. Overall, this paper presents a new methodology for solving the UETP that has the potential to offer superior results when compared to existing approaches.
... In addition to, while dealing with complex real-world problems like designing solutions and/or time-series prediction, it is very important to optimize solutions either using selected optimizer (Ghafori & Gharehchopogh, 2021;Gharehchopogh, 2022a) or apply feature selection to remove noise (Abdollahzadeh & Gharehchopogh, 2021;Mohmmadzadeh & Gharehchopogh, 2021;Naseri & Gharehchopogh, 2022;Gharehchopogh, Maleki & Dizaji, 2021b). The education sector also requires optimal solutions for assorted task which range from website response rate (Yunfeng, 2010) to student performance (Nand, Chand & Naseem, 2020a). In higher education institutes (HEI), one of the fundamental areas that need optimization is scheduling. ...

In recent times, there has been a growing attention to intelligent optimization algorithms centred on swarm principles such as the firefly algorithm (FA). It was proposed for the continuous domain that mimics the attraction of fireflies to flashing light and has been used in discrete domains via modification. A discrete domain that is a major challenge in most higher education institutes (HEI) is examination timetabling. This article presents a new methodology based on FA for uncapacitated examination timetabling problems (UETP) where the proposed method is an extension of earlier work by the authors on the continuous domain. UETP is considered in this article as it is a university examination timetabling problem, which is still an active research area and has not been solved by FA algorithm as per authors knowledge. The proposed method concentrates on solving the initial solution using discrete FA where it consolidates the reordering of examinations and slots through a heuristic ordering known as neighborhood search. Three neighborhoods are employed in this research, where one is used during the initialization phase while two are utilized during solution improvement phase. Later, through preference parameters, a novel stepping ahead mechanism is used, which employs neighborhood searches built on previous searches. The proposed method is tested with 12 UETP problems where the preference based stepping ahead FA creates comparative results to the best ones available in the literature for the Toronto exam timetabling dataset. The results obtained are proof of concept at the preliminary stage and require further experiments on other educational datasets such as the second international timetable competition benchmark sets. The newly introduced preference based stepping ahead mechanism takes advantage of the current best solution space where it exploits the solution space for better solutions. This paves the way for researchers to utilize the mechanism in other domains such as robotics, etc .

With the growth of the Internet in the recent years, search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo are becoming more and more crucial and reliable. The role of search engines is to index billions of web pages and display only the most relevant results for a given search query. When creating the website, many webmasters forget to take into consideration an essential factor, which is making the world aware of their website. Most of the times the main focus is set on making the website as user-friendly as possible, stable, fast, and secure. However, all of these techniques can be useless if the website does not have any visitor or people just cannot find it. To solve this problem, and to enhance the structure of the website to become more search-engine-friendly, a web application is developed to analyze any given webpage and to provide information on how to enhance and improve its structure to make it more search-engine-friendly and to improve its ranking on search engines. This process is also known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
... There are extensive studies concentrating on optimization of internal link structure by developing high techniques, such as search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, which integrate search principles and search engine innovations to obtain higher link rankings. There are four techniques commonly used for SEO, keyword tools, link tools, usability tools and high-quality incoming links (Rehman & Khan, 2013), with the application of increasing ranking of search results in the Internet marketing and business information (Hsing, Chen, Huang, & Yi, 2010;Luh, Yang, & Huang, 2016;Yunfeng, 2010). Meanwhile, the complex algorithms for Web mining are also developed for Website link structure evaluation and improvement (Arbelaitz et al., 2013;Saremi, Abedin, & Kermani, 2008;Yin & Guo, 2013;Zhou, Chen, Shi, Zhang, & Wu, 2001). ...

A common problem encountered in Web improvement is how to arrange the homepage links of a Website. This study analyses Web information search behavior, and applies the multiple demand theory to propose two models to help a visitor allocate time for multiple links. The process of searching is viewed as a formal choice problem in which the visitor attempts to choose from multiple Web links to maximize the total utility. The proposed models are calibrated to clickstream data collected from an educational institute over a seven‐and‐a‐half month period. Based on the best fit model, a metric, utility loss, is constructed to measure the performance of each link and arrange them accordingly. Empirical results show that the proposed metric is highly efficient for prioritizing the links on a homepage and the methodology can also be used to study the feasibility of introducing a new function in a Website.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving a website’s position in the Internet search engine results. Firstly, this paper, by using an engineering meta-model, analyzes a range of different approaches discussed in the literature into a meta-model. This meta-model explains the key differences, and illustrates the relationships between them. Secondly, by clarifying the links between different models, the meta-model proposes to consider the SEO as a process to be designed rather than as a “combination” of techniques. This process has to integrate different models with the aim of improving and optimizing the SEO. Thirdly, two approaches are infered from this meta-model, and have been applied in a real situation. The results show that website ranking can be variable and fluctuating during the SEO process. It has to be an adaptive process which should be assisted by intelligent models and tools integrated in a holistic approach.
