    Abstract

The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents for the treatment and prevention of bladder spasms has been documented in clinical trials.' In vitro studies have confirmed their role in relaxation of bladder smooth muscle.(2) We report 3 cases in which the use of cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors resulted in acute but reversible urinary retention.
