TubeCam: A new system to detect small mammals (foremost mustelids and dormice)

Goal: Developing a detection method for small mammals, in particular small mustelids and dormice, which has the following advantages over the commonly established practice:

• less time-consuming and lower overall costs
• better data quality and greater knowledge yield
• meeting animal welfare requirements
• enabling reliable data collection and analysis by laypeople (citizen sciences)

We were able to test our gadget in the Ottercenter in Hankensbüttel, Germany. We're making good progress, but there is still some development necessary. More images will follow.
