BLAZHE KONESKI’S POETRY TRANSLATIONS
... for poetry helps us discover the prosodic elements of language...
This article gives two reviews: the first one is the translation of Koneski as a link that connects language cultures, and the second review is the translation as a method of learning foreign languages through the prosodic elements in poetry.
The starting point for this topic is that poetry translators strive to interpret the layers of meaning of the original poem expressed through the applied poetic elements. Such approach to translation inevitably leads to cognition of the discourse of language cultures as well, and thus to establishing connection between those language cultures on the one side and between the author and translator of the verbal, physical, and social expression on the other.
Blazhe Koneski was also aware of the a/s fact and in the interview published in "Conversations with Koneski" by the author Cane Andreevski (Skopje: Kultura, 1991, p. 89) he says: My method of learning Slavic languages was characterized by the fact that I would mainly start with poetry first. That's how I learned the accent and the pronunciation, because poetry helps us discover the prosodic elements of the language; this was the reason I found language learning interesting.
Keywords: translation, poetry, elements of poetry, prosody, foreign language learning method
