Within the TRANSFER-C project we have studies what is the influence of groundwater on the runoff and the biogeochemistry of water in the Contraix valley. To do so, we have sampled wells, springs and streams and we have applied End-Member Mixing Analysis (EMMA) and the analysis of discharge-concentration (Q-C) hysteresis. The results show that there is a close connection between surface and underground waters, and that this connectivity varies with time. The groundwater measurements have been added to the long-term monitoring programme of water in the Sant Nicolau valley.
