Spine - Open source toolbox for modelling integrated energy systems
Goal: EU project Spine will create an open source toolbox for modelling integrated energy systems. The Toolbox will be modular and adaptable, making the toolbox suitable for both detailed modelling of complex features in energy systems as well as for large-scale problems.
This project receives funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement Nr. 774629.

Why is open-source only just coming to energy models? Why are there some many competing models? Read Juha Kiviluoma's thoughts on the problems and benefits of open-source energy model trends on ESIG blog: https://www.esig.energy/trends-of-open-sourcing-models-in-the-energy-space/

Four years ago EU project Spine set out to build open-source tools to help modellers manage data and workflow for multiple models working at different scales across power and energy systems. The end result of that process is a set of three tools: Spine Toolbox to manage data, workflow and scenarios for multiple models; SpineOpt to go where no energy system modelling framework has gone before; and SpineInterface for quickly building up bespoke optimization models.
Join one more of our four free open-for-all demonstration webinars 6-7 and 9-10 September for introduction and case examples of Spine energy system modelling tools: www.spine-model.org/spine_webinar.htm
