Project

STAR - a Speech Therapy Animation and imaging Resource

Goal: The Speech Therapy Animation and imaging Resource (STAR) project will see the creation of a suite of open-access websites, hosting vocal-tract imaging and animated video of vocal-tract movement during speech. In collaboration with the speech and language therapy community, we will use existing ultrasound tongue imaging and magnetic resonance imaging speech datasets to create searchable databases and explanatory vocal-tract animations for speech and language therapy training and use in clinic. The project will begin in July 2021 and will run for 24 months. STAR is funded by the ESRC's Secondary Data Analysis Initiative, (fEC £298,905)
