Project

Presentation of the female ideal of beauty on social networks (Facebook, Instagram)

Goal: The aim of the research is to monitor the presentation of the female ideal of beauty on social networks (Facebook and Instagram). The partial goals of the research will be (1) gender comparison of the perception of the female ideal of beauty on social networks and (2) correlation of the perception of the female ideal of beauty on social networks and self-perception in male and female respondents. From an empirical point of view, it will be quantitatively oriented research. Empirical data can be obtained through a questionnaire of own design, which will be supplemented with e.g. on the Rosenberg Self-Assessment Scale (1995), the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ, Cash, et al., 2004), and others. We will compare the obtained empirical data in terms of gender. The research aims to bring, in addition to a theoretical overview of the presentation of the current state of presenting the female ideal of beauty on social networks, empirical results related to this issue (eg gender differences in the perception of the female ideal of beauty on Facebook, gender differences in perceptions of the female ideal of beauty on Instagram, etc.) )
