Project

Population genomics of the endangered Mediterranean sperm whale sub-population to identify units of conservation and promote effective risk management

Goal: The overall objective of this study is to contribute to a more effective conservation strategy for the Mediterranean SW population. Through the identification of population structure, effective population size (and demographic trends based on genetic data and coalescent analyses), patterns of connectivity and the knowledge of essential habitat for feeding and reproduction, it will be possible to propose a network of priority sites for the conservation of this species.
