The web environment, advancement in technology, options of sources, formats of information and flow of information has great impact on role of libraries as well as role of library professionals. Its create a lot of challenges for library professionals and LIs professionals are forced to change the way they are functioning in providing information needs of users. These new roles required ICT skills and knowledge. This paper discussed about ICT and its impact on library professionals and also highlights about the ICT skill requirements of LIS professionals. Introduction: In today environment relevant information is very essential to the development of society and library, the relevant information is also required to keep and prevent very well. Libraries are recognized as custodians of books, information and knowledge. The researcher, teachers, students, administrator, industrial & business manager, artisan, farmers etc. are needed an information to equip themselves better for the productive pursuit of their respective occupations. They are depending on library to get their information. Now we are living in information society where ICT has change the way and dimension of information & its flow. Rapid advances in information and communication technology (ICT) have brought revolutionary changes in library operations and Librarianship. These changes transformed that the role of library professionals from custodian of library books to information solution providers and knowledge manager. The success of ICT implementation depends largely on availability of competent library professionals because library professionals are the key to successful use of any new technology in a library. The ICT has tremendous impact on librarianship and library user's expectations. The society is becoming more complex and dependent on Science and Technology (S&T). The need for timely organization, communication and dissemination of information is increasing day by day. Information is being recognized as an important resource of accelerating to national development. We are in the age of fast technological changes along with information explosion. In present digital era, it is a major challenge to library professionals is to provide easily accessible information to the users in a seamless manner. The ICT revolution has facilitated the librarians to meet these challenges and provide information to their users. The open access initiative is a revolutionary concept in which scholarly information is provided for the academic users across the global boundary. It is essential to libraries to create an appropriate platform to share the research information of their organization for future use. In India, many libraries have already started to put their scholarly output on their institutional repository. In present survey shows the present status of open access initiatives by Indian’s Libraries to share their scholarly output, what content they are sharing and what software they are using for this purpose.

The present society isgradually becoming a knowledge society- a society where ICT based information handling will be the key factor in controlling the economy of a nation. Libraries are recognized as custodians of books, information and knowledge. The researchers, teachers, students, administrators, industrial & business managers, artisans, farmers etc. are needing an information to equip themselves better for the productive pursuit of their respective occupations Rapid advances in information and communication technology (ICT) have brought revolutionary changes in library operations and Librarianship. This digital revolution has tremendous impact on librarianship and library user’s expectations. At present, electronic resources are playing vital role in dissemination of freeand speedily information among the large number of people and has been accepted as a media of communication channels among the academic community for interaction to share their ideas, opinions, thoughts, research outputs and professional knowledge. The digital environment has also changed the traditional & restricted mode of teaching and research in to online mode. Therefore, libraries have to change in their service dimension according to online mode to sustain with society, although libraries have always been updated with modern technological development and present digital year is best example of it
