IS TECHNOLOGY ECOLOGICALLY SUSTAINABLE

Goal: We live in the fourth industrial and technological revolution, also known as “Second Machine Age” – Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, Professors Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee, 2014), which represents tipping point, e.g., digitalization of almost every aspect of human’s life. On the other hand, many scientists ask the following question, “having in mind that natural resources (ores), food, energy and water are not inexhaustible, is technology ecologically sustainable?!”

In this article, we will analyze how to obtain pertinent Information in the form of Qualitative Data graphically represented from unstructured Big Textual data. Unstructured data refers to information that either does not have a pre-defined data model or is not organized in a pre-defined manner (80-90% of all information). Obviously, it is not useful to accumulate large amounts of information if we cannot find a particular piece of information. The current methods prove to be expensive and the results are too often inappropriate. The goal of the research described here is to present an approach for automating the detection and the extraction of meaning from unstructured data using its normalized part: Web of data & Linked Open data (LOD). On the other hand, in structured indexes, classification systems, thesauri, conceptual structures or semantic networks, relationships are too often vague. One possible approach to this problem consists in organizing the relationships in a typology based on logical properties. For instance, we typically use only the general relation “Is-a” (too vague). We propose an original method: Contextual Exploration. This is implemented in the EC3 software. EC3 does not need syntactic analysis, statistical analysis nor a "general" ontology. EC3 uses only small ontologies called "linguistic ontologies" which depend on the knowledge of the language.

This paper explains how to obtain the number Φ, using a square with side length equal to a, the right triangle with sides a/2 and a, and a circle with radius equal to the hypotenuse of this right triangle. In particular, from a square whose side length is equal to a, we will show how to obtain a segment b in such a way that the value of a/b is the number Φ. It is well known that this ratio is also calculated from equating the ratios obtained by dividing a segment of length a + b by a (being a always the largest segment) and a by b, that is, (a + b)/a = a/b. This equality is a consequence of the ratio of proportionality in triangles applying Thales's Theorem. And, we must mention also how this golden ratio it is obtained as a consequence of the Fibonacci sequence. However, the golden ratio as a consequence of the limit of Fibonacci sequence was found later than many masterpieces, as for instance the ones of Leonardo da Vinci. This is the main reason because we analyzed how to find the proportionality golden ratio using the most common geometric figures and its symmetries. This paper aims to show how the golden ratio can be obtained knowing the side length a of a square.

This speculative essay proposes an account of shame phenomena in the Fourth Industrial Revolution that traces the origin and meaning of shame to technology. Drawing upon sociological and psychological inquiries and theories, the essay explains the origin of shame as related to what Norbert Elias (The civilizing process: Sociogenetic and psychogenetic investigations) dubbed generally the “instruments of civilization.” The essay reflects upon the imbrication of human agency, identities, and visibility as it relates to the historically shifting threshold of shame from pre-industrial to post-industrial societies. The essay will have four main concerns, outlining the history of shame and its moralities from a sociological perspective, identifying the technological origins of shame, considering some transformations of shame by technology, and speculating upon the future of shame as a moral construct embedded in technology, with some consideration of the binary divisions such as technology/society and subject/object that have traditionally structured the cultural significance of shame. В доклада са разгледани основните замърсители отделяни от минните предприятия, които замърсяват хидросферата, атмосферата и литосферата. Тъй като относителен голям дял от замърсителите се отделят във водите, са представени опростени модели на отделяните във водоемите замърсители от следните две производствени системи: подземен рудник-транспорт-обогатителна фабрика и открит рудник-транспорт-обогатителна фабрика. В моделите са дадени най-важните връзки между входни и смущаващи въздействия и генерираните в резултат на това замърсители. Ясно е, че количествто отделяни замърсители се влияе от производителността на предприятието, като в това в по-голяма степен важи за обогатителните фабрики. Направен е модел на замърсителите и смущаващите въздействия - атмосферните условия (валежи, сила и посока на вятъра, температура) и прилаганата технология за преработка на минната суровина. Разгледани са в момента действащите технологии за очистване на водите, или за предотвратяване на замърсяване като оборотното водоснабдяване. Дадени са задължителните етапи за водопречиствателна станция, обслужваща такъв тип предприятия. Предложена е децентрализирана система за автоматично управление за такъв тип водопречиствателна станция. В нея съответните контури за управление на процесите по водопречистване трябва да са регулирани от програмируеми контролери. За повишаване на ефективността на пречиствателната станция, преработваща води от обогатителна фабрика е направен логико-вероятностен модел на един обект, като за пример е даден неутрализатор. Математически модел на такъв обект е трудно да се направи не само поради наличие на много фактори, а и защото те имат стохастичен характер или се характеризират с определена степен на неопределеност (голямо транспортно закъснение, нестационарност). В случая за описание на обекта за управление неутрализатор, се използват лингвистични променливи. Те приемат стойностите малка, средна, голяма и т. н. Те могат да бъдат размити т. е. на дадена стойност на лингвистична променлива съответства определена степен на принадлежност. Тя показва с каква степен на истинност може да отнесем дадена променлива към съответната стойност.

В статията е разгледана ролята на кариерните центрове към университетите за повишаване на мотивацията на студентите и оттам и повлияване върху качеството им на обучение. Анализирано е, че спадът в качеството на обучение е свързан с липсата на мотивация на студентите поради невъзможността след завършване на образованието си да намерят веднага работа по специалността, незаинтересованост на предприятията, намаляване на периода на практиките, отпадане на стипендии от предприятията, остарялата материална база и понякога липсата на интерактивна комуникация между преподаватели и студенти. Като основен проблем се явява загубата на контакти между бизнеса и университетите. В периода след 2000 година е сформиран форум „Кариери“, който за съжаление е насочен към студентите от икономическите специалности. Това е допълнителен фактор, който спомага за отлив на мотивирани студенти от инженерните висши училища. Решение на проблема е създаването и работата на кариерни центрове към инженерните училища, които да създадат връзки със съответните предприятия, да да подготвят студентите за кандидатстване в тях, да консултират за допълнителни квалификационни курсови, да популяризират дейността на браншови организации и др. Приоритет за работа са мотивираните или социално-слаби студенти, а не тези, които са записали определена специалност без ясна визия за дейност след завършването и. . The article discusses the role of career centers at universities to increase student motivation and hence influence on their learning quality. It is analyzed that the decrease in the quality of education is related to the lack of motivation of the students because of the impossibility after their graduation to immediately find work in the specialty, the lack of interest of the enterprises, the reduction of the period of the practices, the dropping out of scholarships from the enterprises, the obsolete material base and sometimes the lack of interactive communication between lecturers and students. The main problem is the loss of contacts between businesses and universities. In the period after 2000, a Careers Forum was formed, which unfortunately is aimed at students from economics specialties. This is an additional factor contributing to the outflow of motivated students from the engineering higher education institutions. Solution is the creation and work of career centers to engineering schools to create links with relevant enterprises to prepare students for applying them to consult for additional training courses to promote the activities of business organizations and others. Priority to work is motivated or indigent students, not those who have enrolled a specialty without a clear vision of activity after graduation.

Cellobiose biodegradation in soil samples containing different doses of phosphogypsum was investigated by isothermal microcalorimetry. The results were compared with glucose biodegradation data in identical soil samples. A similar tendency was observed in cellobiose and glucose biodegradation processes. The rate of decomposition of the analyzed saccharides decreased with a rise in phosphogypsum doses in soil samples. During cellobiose and glucose biodegradation, the rate of heat production and the apparent growth rate constant decreased, whereas peak time and generation time increased with a rise in the phosphogypsum content of the investigated soil samples. The heat of cellobiose and glucose biodegradation increased in response to higher phosphogypsum doses in the soil.

Abstract The aim of this study was to develop classification models based on the texture features from the images acquired with a flatbed scanner to distinguish between the seeds of traditional (Radena) and double-low (Warta) cultivars of white mustard. Texture features were calculated in MaZda software. The classification models for RGB, Lab, and XYZ color space and individual color channels for distinguishing between the seeds of traditional and double-low cultivars of white mustard were built in the WEKA application with the use of selected Decision Trees (J48), Rules (J Rip), Bayes (Naive Bayes), Lazy (IBk), Meta (Multi Class Classifier), and Functions (FLDA) classifiers. The classification accuracy of the evaluated color models ranged from 77% (XYZ, IBk classifier) to 83% (RGB, JRip classifier). In an evaluation of individual color channels, classification accuracy was highest for channels R, L, and X, and it ranged from 85% for color channels L and X when the IBk classifier was used to 93% for the texture features from color channel R when the JRip classifier was used. Practical applications The developed models support fast, cheap, nondestructive, and reliable discrimination of the seeds of white mustard. The proposed classification models based on texture features effectively distinguished between the seeds of traditional (Radena) and double-low (Warta) cultivars of white mustard. Therefore, they can be reliably used to examine the authenticity of seeds and to detect seed adulteration.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the applicability of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for discriminating wheat and barley kernels naturally infected with fungi of the genus Fusarium from healthy kernels. Differences in selected thermal parameters were observed between infected and healthy kernels. In infected wheat kernels, the 2nd endothermic peak occurred at 58.6–62.3 °C, the 3rd endothermic peak at 270.1–279.7 °C; the area under the DSC curve was determined at 1842–2246 J g−1, and mass loss at 76.26–80.39%. In healthy wheat kernels, the above parameters were determined at 77.0–78.9 °C, 292.6–311.0 °C, 1180–1432 J g−1, and 71.10–74.92%, respectively. In infected barley kernels, the 2nd endothermic peak occurred at 51.6–56.4 °C, the 3rd endothermic peak at 286.1–290.1 °C; the area under the DSC curve was determined at 1752–1998 J g−1, and mass loss at 78.65–81.22%. In healthy barley kernels, the investigated parameters were determined at 69.1–74.3 °C, 310.0–324.9 °C, 1187–1249 J g−1, and 72.18–74.09%, respectively.

The report discusses the more important considerations regarding the efficient management of corrosion of malleable cast iron pipes. The properties of the influence of the ions on the corrosion rate for steel, gray and malleable cast iron were studied. A review of the corrosion risk assessment methodologies has been made, with attention being paid to the development of point systems that assess the risk of plumbing structures. It has been shown that there are factors that are not included in the risk assessment systems. Based on the experience and additional studies, a new 30-point system for assessing the risk of corrosion of underground pipelines has been developed. Many factors of the environment have been studied, each of them having a different weight of influence in the model. Factors are divided into two groups: 1. environmental factors such as soil acidity, chlorides, sulphates, nitrates, ambient temperature, specific soil resistance, presence of bacteria, moisture and others; 2. Infrastructure factors - pipeline diameter, wall thickness, intended use, proximity to other infrastructure. The presented risk assessment method is a generic frame for the risk of corrosion of cast iron, combining the estimates of pitch versus ground corrosion, size, operational life and pipeline performance. Specific suggestions have been made to determine the corrosion factors and on this basis generalizations and recommendations for corrosion control are provided. Докладът дискутира по-важните съображения относно ефективното управление на корозията на тръби от ковък чугун. Представеният метод за оценка на риска е една обобщаваща рамка за риска от корозия на ковкия чугун, комбинираща оценките за склонност към корозия на терена с тези на размера, оперативния живот, и функционирането на тръбопровода. Направени са конкретни предложения за определяне на факторите на корозия и на тази основа са изведени обобщения и препоръки за контрола върху корозията.
Following the tendencies in development of the design of sensors the report presents a model for direct research of the process of corrosion on the underground pipelines.Following the tendencies in development of the design of sensors the report presents a model for direct research of the process of corrosion on the underground pipelines. A sensor, working on a resistive principle for direct monitoring of the corrosion process of underground pipelines, has been presented and investigated. The sensor-galvanic element consists of two metal washers and an insulating layer between them. One washer acts as a cathode electrode (disc form) and is made of copper and the other is an anode made of steel or cast iron depending on the material from which the test facility is made. The electrodes are insulated between them by an insulating pad and secured to an insulating tube. Experiments have been conducted through the sensor. The study found that the sensor can be used to measure general corrosion, and to obtain reliable data, the magnitude of the current and another magnitude - resistance must be used. Tension has a oscillating character, depending on the formation and fall of the oxide film, changing the conditions of the medium. When converting the analog signal to a digital signal, it is possible to construct a remote system for monitoring general corrosion. Резюме. Представен е и е изследван датчик, работещ на резистивен принцип за директно следене на процеса на корозия на подземните тръбопроводи. Датчикът – галваничен елемент се състои от две метални шайби и изолиращ слой между тях. Едната шайба играе ролята на катоден електрод (форма на диск) и е изработена от мед, а другата на аноден електрод изработена от стомана или чугун в зависимост от материала, от който е изработено изследваното съоръжение. Електродите са изолирани помежду си чрез изолираща подложка и се закрепят върху изолационна тръба. Чрез датчикът са проведени експерименти. За провеждането им са изработени три датчика с размери на шайбите 20 мм и 5 мм дебелина. Изолационната подложка между електродите е изпълнена от полиамид с дебелина не повече от 0.1 мм, защото при повишаване на дебелината се повишава омическото съпротивление, което понижава точността на измерването. Те са поставени в различни корозионни среди, сътветно - разтвор на NaCl 15%, NaCl 18% (имитират се условията на Черно море) и в киселинна почва от Родопите. Теоретично и практически е установено, че при внасяне на датчика в корозионна среда и стартиране на корозионен процес между анода и катода възниква потенциална разлика, която е причина за поява на галваничен ток. Големината на тока съответства на скоростта на корозионния процес. В процеса на експеримента и за трите среди се наблюдава трайно слабо намаляване на големината на тока и повишаване на корозиралата маса. Стойностите на напрежението остават сравнително постоянни за част от периода на провеждане на изследването, а след това стойностите им рязко намаляват поради образуването на стабилен оксиден слой по повърхността на шайбата на датчика. Стойността на съпротивлението не се променя в широки граници, защото отношението между тока и напрежението остава сравнително постоянно. Получените резултати са проверени чрез следенето на тегло и металографско измерване. При следене на масата на шайбите се наблюдава повишаване поради натрупване на оксиден филм, който има различно съпротивление и маса от това на чистия метал. Неговото наличие е доказано чрез фазов анализ, а дебелината му е измерена чрез металографско изследване. От изследването е установено, че датчикът може да се използва за измерване на обща корозия, като за получаване на достоверни данни трябва да се използва големината на тока и още една величина – съпротивление. Напрежението има колебаещ се характер, зависещ от ръста на образуване и падане на оксидния филм, промяна на условията на средата. При преобразуване на аналоговия в цифров сигнал е възможно да се конструира дистанционна система за следене на обща корозия.
It has been found that the calculated power of the motors driving the mills is usually lower than required, which leads to the installation of a much more powerful engine than the calculations. This is probably due to the fact that many of the input parameters involved in the calculation of the power of the mill of the mill can not be set correctly and they differ from the actual ones. To solve this problem is a neural network trained. Different neural networks according to structure and learning algorithm are considered for this purpose. A universal neural network "QwikNet 2.23" is selected. A three-layer neural network has been trained with the following independent input parameters: cladding thickness, mm; inner drum diameter, mm; drum length, mm; mill speed, min-1; mass of the ball load, t. The hidden layer has 5 knots and 1 output - engine power. Several Rprop, Quickprop, Delta-bar-delta and Backprop trained algorithms have been studied. The lowest error in neural network training was obtained with the Rprop algorithm. The Rprop training algorithm is applied. As a result, the trained neural network with a maximum error of 3.16224% was obtained, so it was decided not to train a neural network with more intermediate layers. The trained neural network is tested with data not used in the training. The results of the application of the test program are the same errors in the determination of the power of the new engines. An attempt was made to remove data from one input neuron. At the same test node, a high error was reported. The trained neural network can be used to determine the approximate power of the electric motors of drum mills, but can not be considered as an exact mathematical model. It is also necessary to compare the data with another model. It was found that the error grew with a weaker relationship between inputs and outputs. In connection with this conclusion it was decided to train a neural network in which there are more input parameters but with a connection between some of them. Направен е опит а бъде обучена невронна мрежа за определяне мощността на двигателите на барабанните мелници чрез използването на програмата „QwikNet2.23”. Като резултат е получена обучената невронна мрежа със максималната грешка от 3.16224%, която може да бъде използвана за определяне на приблизителната мощност на електрическите двигатели на барабанните мелници, но не може да се счита за точен математически модел

Na Akademiji Obrazovno-zdravstvenih strukovnih studija u Subotici, studenti pored in-formacijsko i komunikacijsko-tehnoloških (IKT) saznanja, stječu i potrebna metodičko-didaktička iskustva (= instrukcijski dizajn) koja u edukaciji djece imaju najveći značaj. "Jednom pogrešno naučeno, teško se ispravlja!" Kada su u pitanju usvajanja apstraktnih matematičkih pojmova (npr. mjerenje zapremine ili mase tijela ...), IKT nisu od presudnog značaja. Sva naša osjetila i eksperimentalan rad su u procesu usvajanja ovakvih saznanja nezamjenjiva. IKT mogu pos-lužiti u procesu provjere i utvrđivanja ovih tema, kao dopunsko nastavno sredstvo, a nikako kao primarni izvor za stjecanje znanja/vještina! Cilj rada jeste predstavljanje primjera teme JEDI-NICA ZA MJERENJE TEKUĆINA-LITRA u kojoj metodika rada, čula djece i eksperimetalan rad, moraju biti ispred IKT. Abstract In addition to information and communication technologies (ICT) Academy of Vocational Studies for Educational and Health Professionals in Subotica, students acquire the necessary methodological-didactic experience (instructional design) which is of the highest important in the education of children. "Once mistakenly learned, it is difficult to correct!". When it comes to adopting abstract mathematical concepts (e.g. measuring volumes or body mass...), ICT solutions are not crucial. All our senses and experimental work are irreplaceable in the process of acquiring such knowledge. ICT can serve in the process of checking and identifying these topics, as an additional teaching tool, and not as a primary source for acquiring knowledge or "hands-on" skills! The aim of the paper is to present an example on the topic of Measuring Liquids-One Liter of Any Liquid , in which the methodology of work, the senses of children and experimental work must predominate over any ICT tools.
